Never fun to lose, but I’m not too bothered. A loss was coming, might as well take it in the league cup.
Bring on Burnley!
I honestly could not possibly disagree with you anymore.

It's this type of thinking that meant we were gifted one of the greatest strikers of our generation from our academy, but have sweet fuck all to show for it.

If over the last 10 years we'd prioritised winning the cups over the leagues, then I'm very confident we'd have multiple trophies to show for it. Maybe a couple FA cups and league cups, 1 or 2 European cups.

But instead what we have is a couple of top 4 finishes and a couple golden boot winners, brilliant.

And I'm sorry because I don't mean to tear into you personally and I know that this was probably just a throwaway comment you made, but christ we have to get out of this '🎶Top 4 is our everything🎶' mindset that has crept into the club under Levy's ownership.

It is the only way that we will get this club back on the right track and start winning silverware again. Rant over.

Just occurred to me I have already spent more time on the Wembley pitch than Spurs have and will do for a while (5/6 hours).

It feels raw now. Is it me, or did fraser dive too early every time?
For an experienced goalkeeper and one that is quality on his day. He was very disappointing for them Pens.

They seemed to learn very quickly that the hop, skip and jump method was putting him off. He didn’t seem to learn quick enough that he just needed to stand put.

I'm still livid. Really hate the feeling after feeling so positive from the opening weeks of the season.

Really hate it.. 💔
Fucking hell.

Not a good performance overall, but to be "livid" is a bit weird.

I live and breath Tottenham, but i'm not livid, we didn't get humiliated 5-0 with a full strength team.

It's just football mate, much more important things in the world as much as I love my team.

I know that a Top 6 club doesn't normally allow a new manager the luxury of time, but let's be realistic here. It's week 3 of the Ange overhaul. Yeah we're playing better and we've got some nice results, but we're a work in progress. Kane is gone, we're now one of the youngest teams in the Prem, and our manager is new to the league. What were your realistic expectations at this point in the season?

It was a lot of rotation, but by all accounts Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Peresic and Lo Celso should absolutely be able to hold their own against Fulham.

The only choice I'll criticize is playing Forster. Forster was a midtable keeper in his prime. Now, he has no business playing even as our cup keeper.

It was always an unlucky draw. Midweek cup match, away, against a Premier League side. Chelsea get to line up at home against Wimbledon.

That's you. But this is a winnable cup for me and crashing out at 2nd round with such performance is humiliating for me.

I want to win a proper cup badly. But you do you no problem.

I do find it a bit odd how we have two domestic cups in England and one goes straight to pens after a draw and the other one says, no let’s do all of this again next week with another 90 mins.

Not for me, I still have optimism for the league campaign. The reason this is frustrating is because of the changes, not because of an inferior or inconsistent level of play from our strongest XI. The "cold shower" will probably come, but in the league, against a good team.

This is just an infuriating missed opportunity.
I do agree with this. I said at the beginning that 9 was too many changes but I can also understand why Ange used this as an opportunity to play some that he hasn't yet seen much of.
Personally, I'd have kept Vic in goal and maybe made a couple of changes in the outfield, bringing the others as the game dictates.
But I'm not the gaffer and maybe he saw this as his last chance to check out these players before the window shuts - although granted, it's a bit too fucking late to do much now.

That being said, I'm still pissed that we've fucked this cup, I'm just not going to get too mad about it because there are mitigating factors this time.

To be honest I’m not happy with us going out of a cup this early in the season. I’m hoping now Ange realises who he can and can’t depend on. Probably the only positive to come out of tonight.

I was thinking we should keep GLC for this season, but I’m now on the side of sell him if the right offer comes in.

Really never been a fan of Skip, but id keep him for squad rotation only and the fact he’s obviously Spurs.

Disappointed that Dane didn’t take a penalty, and it was left with Sanchez. With Richarlsons form atm, Dane should be backing himself to try and take that spot. There’s a very small window of opportunity for him to try and step up, and just don’t feel like he took it tonight.

Suppose we don’t actually know who made the call on who takes the pens though. so hard to give any players stick for that, certainly the ones who took them.
