Top managers don’t let themselves get sacked, do they? They tend to walk… right now I’m finding it hard to see how Conte goes into the pressers with his head held high. We are a shadow of what we should be, but a bit like with Nuno, our league position is deceptively good. I always thought this was our best shot at a trophy and we didn’t even get out of the gate. I’m incredibly down about us right now. Everyone seems shot of confidence. I don’t understand it. This should have been a defining season…

All discipline gone. Completely lost their heads the lot of them. Absolutely no leadership.
This right here.

If the club isn't going to give Conte a couple of players who stand up to the task, we can forget it.

Get some players in who lead by example

Is it just quality though? I mean all teams and players make mistakes, they overcome them and they move on from them... I would also add that the team that started is better than Forests. I cant remember a chance, perhaps Doherty in the first and Richarlison in the second but that was offside.
The problem with Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Sessegnon et al is that when they're bad they're really bad. We need defenders whose lowest levels are still higher than those Forest players. Like Romero for example. We all know they're all capable of amazing games at times, but there's just far too many stinkers and at their worst they are Championship level. We need more consistency.

He clearly needs at least one more window though. You're not telling me he thinks those backline options we're ever going to bag him silverware.
Let's get the forest backline. Clearly better than ours right?

This is the worst performance for a long, long time. This is actually quite embarrassing to be honest. The defence was diabolical. Sanchez and Sessegnon were absolutely crap! Dier and Docherty were poor. Højbjerg was poor, Skipp was poor. Perisic poor. The rest were fractionally less poor. The substitutes, bar Spence and Gill were poor! No organisasjon, no plan, just a really bad game in every form or shape. Did we really not want to proceed? What is a matter with this team? We need to ship out majority of this team, Docherty, Emerson, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Sessegnon, Skipp, Højbjerg, Moura and propably Perisic are not good enough for the standard we need to be at! I'm not sure anymore that Conte is right for us at all. No plan B, rigid tactics, ultra defensive outset, etc, etc. This team has been performing poorly for too long and even if at the start we managed to grind out results, that has come to a end. This is absolutely unacceptable! We are going to lose against Leeds and we can kiss the fourth place goodbye. Levy won't accept that so Conte is walking on a tight rope. I'm really resigned! Pardon the rant!

Is it just me that thinks all of the players are scared of getting injured because of the World Cup? ?
Yes and no. Is that the same for other teams? I can't blame the players either seeing the number that are dropping and missing it.

Part of the issue feels as if the players know who Conte's picking week in week out. They know there's a lack of depth in quality, so even if they throw in a turgid performance like this, they know they're starting on Saturday regardless.

A couple of quality reinforcements are needed, like last January. A couple of the younger lot at least looked to have some energy and desire about them, like Gil and Spence.

Dier and Sanchez, well... what can you say? Showed their level again tonight.
I do agree this is a big problem it’s very demotivating for most of the squad and as good as conte is I’d say it’s bad management.

Sure he might not trust some of them but he’s running the core group into the ground and they ain’t performing any better.

Spence especially did very well since he came on.

What really scares me is our lack of press in defence and how slow we are to react. If they are tired it is better to play a B team from time to time then so players can rest up, we loose anyway with jogging "first team players"

Those backline options should be enough to beat Forest's B team.

Then it's up to those players to train harder and play better when they get the opportunity isn't it? They don't help their own causes with performances like that.

Quality is about consistency of performance. The levels of Dier, Sanchez, Davies etc vary far too much game by game and more often than not they're low. It's very rare you see Romero get a 3/10 but he often hits an 8. At his worst he's usually a 5 or 6. Dier at his worst is completely all at sea.

I think we overrate far too many of our players.

Skipp for instance seems to be a solid journeyman midfielder, nothing more and the same can be said for a long list of our players.

Real quality players are few and far between in our squad...
Just come back from injury to be fair to the lad and needs a succession of games.

Conte made mistakes tonight but I do think this is a game that's just too far for us and we are desperate for the break.

Kane has had to play practically every minute.
Son is out
Bentancur got a knock against Marseille and has needed a rest.
Richarlison and Kulusevkis just returned from injury.
Sess is playing with difficulty.
Romero has been carrying an injury.
Hojbjerg must surely be tired too?

If we had to choose one game to lose and be knocked out in, it was tonight.

Performances have not been good enough but I think the squad is stretched at the minute and we have too many players that simply can't fill shoes.

And I still think Gil starting would have made zero difference. Maybe Spence, but that wasn't a game for Gil.
