Tonight was a combination of a lack of energy, lack of commitment and a lack of quality. A half-arsed, knackered performance from a team who overall just aren't good enough individually or collectively.

They should feel embarrassed.

Kulusevski is the only one who can do this.

While our defence gets the attention, our attacking play is just as bad.
I would say it is fairly one dimensional. Not helped by a midfield without any real creativity and full backs who cannot cross the ball (bar Perisic).

Cant believe we have to play Dier and sanchez in 2022! They been here forever and were never first team players when we had Toby and Jan. Why would they be now?

Dier was our holding midfielder when we had Toby and Jan at the back. Remember that Dier's function in that role was to drop deeper and allow our excellent footballing centre halves to go wide and be part of the build up in our play.

That was a proper Europa/Europa Conference performance of recent years. Put out a strong team but they treat it like a training game until its too late.

Personally don't mind us dropping out of this one early to avoid further fixture congestion but would have been a lot easier to swallow had we played a B team and actually rested some key players. This is just the worst outcome really.

Hope the team find a way to get 3 points on Sunday, they seem pretty lost right now.

Game vs Leeds is set for Saturday and we'll need the players to do much better than they did today.

Yes that was before and then he said he prefers playing CB. He only looked good before because of Wanyama.

Swap Dier out for a new centre back, Sessegnon for Udogie, get a proper RWB in and we aren't shit anymore. The only reasons for poor results is either too many players aren't up to it, the manager has lost the dressing room or the manager is clueless. I'm not having it at all that Conte is clueless, and there's no lack of effort out there. It's clearly the former. Too many errors from inconsistent players who aren't up to the required standard.

Dier, Davies, Sanchez, Tanganga, Sessegnon, Royal, Moura - none of these guys are good enough. You can get away with having 2-3 weak points in a squad but not 6-7 players with a schedule as packed as this. It's nothing we didn't predict at the end of the TW bar Sessegnon maybe. If i'd told you I had a crystal ball and said Conte wouldn't play Spence then everyone would have said we need a RWB, CB and CAM to compete.

Hard to judge any performance with the World Cup less than two weeks away. Players will prioritise that over a Carabao Cup game.

That’s why we should have started the likes of Gil, Japhet and Spence.

Feel for the fans that traveled to the game.

Our midfield is actually L becoming seriously strong and our attack. It’s just our defence which is letting us down massively and dare I say keeper. We could do with one creative player in midfield though.

This… Been saying this for seasons! Pass and move, pull defenders about, make runs. I want to see us live on the edge. There’s no movement up top, no pass and move, no one twos
Sometimes you can have players that move into space but because the opposition are in a good shape it's hard to make that space.

Modern football needs midfielders and defenders who are good at 1v1s and like to engage with the opposition, if they successfully do that they then draw out more defenders and that's where we get more space.

I'd also argue that Conte likes his CBs to join the final third to create some overloads.

Sanchez did that in the first half, but every time he got the ball he failed to control it or make something with it.

Davies has been the issue on the other side, although he is better.

Our wing backs can't take players on.
Our CBs, other than Romero, can't beat players.
Bissouma and Bentancur can do this but Bissouma is still adapting.

It's easy for the opposition to set up against us. Quite simply, make sure Bentancur doesn't get the ball where he can influence things. Just block the others as they are not good enough with the ball to beat you.

Not sure players would think like that but agree we should have played Gil, Spence etc. it just seems wild to me that we played such a defensive team when we have gone behind every time using it. Surely, it’s the time to experiment because anything is better than a 3-5-2 featuring one attacking player. Utter madness. I think Conte is too obsessed with his system.

At least there should be no doubt in Conte and Paratici’s mind that we need to shift Dier, Sanchez, Sess (and Davies and Hugo) asap as these players have proved they aren’t up to standard.

if any of them are still here at the end of the summer window I will be very disappointed
Trouble is no one would want them and the clubs who do would want them cheap and levy would be looking most of what he paid back.

Just reminiscing about the halcyon days when we used to get to cup semifinals and finals. Can’t even win a match in cups these days
