Fair play. I didn't write him off as there was no way he was going to he worse as a CB than Kaboul or Chirches but after that shocking game against stoke he has been very solid. We desperately needed some solidarity in at least one of the CBs. We've had to field way too many ineffectual and unbalanced partnerships. All of our other defenders need a more robust/no nonsense defender to pair up with. Dawson did well with Vertonghen in 12/13 and Ledley with Kaboul the year before. Put them together and their defincicies are exacerbated but pair them with a more reliable type and they perform much better. Hopefully this Moreno is another more sturdy type

Perish the thought of giving him some time to settle in a new country, get to know his teammates, and come to terms with the style of a new league.

He was phenomenal last night. A real rock in the back.

Think he went through (perhaps still is to a certain extent) what alot of new defenders from other leagues have to. The pace of the league can really catch people out and when you're trying to settle into a new side it's harder to figure out where your positioning needs to be etc - particularly for someone, like Fazio, who isn't blessed with pace. But a lack of pace doesn't mean you can't be a success.

I remember Mertesacker's first month with Arsenal - he was dreadful. Caught out all the time - but once he settled, figured out where he needed to be in certain situations he's been a steady egg for the past 3 years or so.

The point i'm making is he looks a lot more assured lately.

Demichelis also looked completely hopeless when he started at City.

Had a very good game last night ( my MOM) and he is just what we have needed at CB for a few years now, someone who is not going to be bullied and wins the ball in the air more often then not.

If we defend as a team in two blocks of 4 and do that deep he is really useful.

It is the problem when it is about pace and the high line thing.

Good two games. Needs to continue on that.

That's always a problem for players who don't know the League, teams or players they are up against. Once they have the knowledge, the lack of pace isn't a problem. John Terry has been around for ages and doesn't get caught often. Fazio just needs to build up his experience.

Need to be optimistic after this very poor match, so I can only turn to Fazio and Hugo
At least Fazio seems to be a great buy now, another good match, dominant in the air

We would lose this match if we start Kaboul

I like him...solid and composed, just what we need, and somewhat of a rarity in our back four this season.

He has really risen to the challenge. He's been solid and also looking dangerous going forward on corners.

Very impressed with Fazio today, one of the few spurs players not to get out muscled by palace.

Very good game from him today. Needs a CB partner with pace but saw some real quality today.

There are barely any CBs with pace in the world
Yep true mate, but what i'm saying is if there were 2 Fazio's I'm not sure that would work, however him and Jan compliment each other quite well. Dawson and Fazio for example I don't think would work as, as a combination they're too slow see Cahill and Terry, Cahill has some pace, not a great deal but enough to cover for Terry's lack of.

Good player though Fazio, poor start for us with those red cards but think certainly starting to adapt and look a decent player :)

Funny thread this.

Hopefully we'll sell this clown in the summer though can't see Seville taking him back.
