Just watched the Conte Cam and his enthusiasm is incredible. I would run through walls for that man if I was part of that team. He demands hard work but he leads by example. What a brilliant manager.

I have to admit, I had my doubts about him before he arrived, like many Spurs fans...but he's won me over completely. ?‍♂️

Not seen a comment on Conte's remarks re fixtures. Apols if I've missed that discussion earlier here..

..But I agree with his overall point that there is a weakness in our lobbying of the Prem, FA,CL etc. We permanently get the short end of the stick on a range of issues, off the top of my head..Lasagnegate, Being the last team ever to be barred from CL because a home country team won the CL making an extra place requirement (stark contrast to 'Pool getting the rules changed to help them play in CL ! ), the whole Conference League shambles(no club anywhere had the draconian misfortune we did re Covid...Diff authority but we had what, 8 players out..the Arse get's an inconvenient match postponed for one player with Covid)....Then the repeated bad deals re fixture congestion.

I've probably missed out a couple and yes, its common for fans to moan that their team has unfair treatment, but Conte is now pointing this bullshit out and that we are weak in this area and he's right.

Being a top club means not only improvements in the playing side imo.

And who moans about things not going their way the loudest??

The big clubs.

The man knows what he is doing on and off the pitch, absolute class

nb, until we lose 2-0 to Marseille tonight and he doesnt make any subs until the 89th min, then he's back to be old and rubbish. Gimme Potter etc..

His abysmal record in Europe isn’t down to bad luck, today further proved that. Has to be a bit less pragmatic, not even Simeone is this pragmatic in CL

We've gotta try something different at RWB and need to get kulusevski back in the lineup.

I can see he really want to win something with us this season, he may not admit it. He's trying to balance all the players with fitness levels and still needing to win. Time will tell if he's right and succeed. So far he's still more than justifying his pay. And we should continue to get better - that can be a very scary positive.

When our players are unable to string 3 passes together it’s nothing to do with tactics or being pragmatic.
That’s complete bollocks.

Being able to pass the ball effectively is one thing, but not pressing higher (at home) is another. Pressing provides energy to the team and usually means a fast start. Sitting back is more cautious, but hands the initiative to the other team. That does come back to tactics, and so is very much not bollocks.

Yeah. But you have to admit we were set up too cautiously. Part of how we played was our nerves and being unable to play one-touch football for the most part. But we didn't press forward at all. Not worrying, but maybe concerning?
Hard to say as we’ve sat off a lot in first halves of many matches before only to come on strong in 2nd halves.

This time we got one of their players sent off and won the game from there.

I’d like to have seen us press a bit more and be better on the ball but it’s the first game in the CL and we won 2-0 so I think probably too early to judge and say contes previous failures in CL are due to his tactics and that we need to set-up less cautiously.

I’d like to see how we look after 3-4 group games to make more of a judgment.

Also I believe the CL is such a high level that you do need some luck at times mabye conte didn’t have that previously, he did get inter to the EL final so it’s not like he’s completely useless in Europe full stop.

Let’s see how we go. For now I’m very pleased with a solid 2-0 win and being able to take a few players off early.

This man and Conte are transforming our club, ??
The final 30 seconds or so gives me goosebumps in terms of the excitement of the direction we are heading. Anyone who said Paratici was rubbish and nothing to do with any of Juve’s success over the last 10 or so years couldn’t have been further from the truth, he was an integral part and he’s using all he learnt at the school of juve winning machine to try to bring us to the level Juve got to.

It was really disheartening seeing Bentancur trying to press higher up the pitch and very few of his teammates following his lead. We really struggle playing through a strong press and teams will continue to take this approach when coming up against us.

Yeah, I absolutely agree with all that, and you're conflating my point with some others that pointed towards Conte's previous failings in the CL. I made no such connection. However, to say that the tactical decision of not pressing wasn't a tactical decision is obviously wrong. I'm not saying it wasn't a contributing factor to how poor our performance was is just obtuse. We could have easily pressed a bit higher and forced the issue. I'm not sure sitting back and conceding possession gives the team the right mindset, even in the first game of the Champions League. But as you said, let's wait and see what happens.

Devil’s advocate here, but we do have 17 games in the next 10 weeks and some of those are huge, which will shape the rest of our season.

Maybe we have to approach games this way to avoid early fatigue/injuries. Look at Klopp’s team for an example of what would happen if we went full throttle in every game. Sometimes being conservative for periods of a game go a long way.

That being said, the lads need to be a bit sharper on the ball. We were sluggish today. We desperately need someone to take the game by the throat and lift the energy and we don’t seem to have that player at the moment.

We are doing extremely well results wise though so nothing to worry about IMO but something to consider.
