I just can't believe, with how shit we were when I was growing up, we've found ourselves in a position where we're considered an "elite club".

This is a horrible idea. What would happen if teams come from nowhere and win their prospective leagues? If I remember correctly we used to have teams like Aston villa, Ipswich town, Nottingham forest and Leeds near the top of the top division a while back. This could still hapen in the future. These would the be closed out of the top table or only "allowed" in if the top clubs say so.

Top level football is seeming to go up its on ass This will just be another example they are trying to incorporate the closed league style of American football and use it in Europe. There will be no room for the romanticists of us in footballs anymore.

I think it is time for football to split in the rugby league and union style. The top clubs can take their clinical, money obsessed, VAR circus rebranding of a beautiful sport to wherever they want to in their vain attempt at becoming the European brand of "American football" and leave the real beautiful game to the fans and those who love the sport. It seems like the last few years have been aimed at a new type of fan, they have ruined a sport I love.

I for one am out.

I think it's telling that the English clubs who were involved in "leading" this all have American owners.

In fact only Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man Utd and Us have been in the PL every season.

Interesting that 5 of those 6 teams were the main drivers of the PL in the first place.

They hate us but need us in the league so they get that sweet TV money. But we will have sky Premiership money AND super league money meaning they don't stand a chance. If FA kicks us out they lose 100m or so of TV money and get totally fucked. Also hard to plan for new stadium when things are so uncertain.

They’ve absolutely fucked the rest of the clubs in the country haven’t they. Bloody hell. What will we be competing for domestically? We aren’t going to win the league and there won’t be a top 4 to try and get into. Pointless.

Have they though? Their aim is to continue playing domestic leagues as well and challenge the new Champions League format that, to me at least, looks like a really shit concept. Sure, it's for profits and therefore greed is involved. The only way the domestic leagues end up with nothing to compete for is if the super league clubs are thrown out by similarly greedy execs in the national FA's and UEFA who are scared shitless because their power is being challenged.

The game changes and the game evolves. Didn't we have this in the beginning of the 90's when the prem broke free from the previous league as well? I wasn't here for it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the outrage was similar, if not worse at the time.

Take the moral high ground so we can say that the results aren't there because the money is going to the usual villains?
Convenient, wouldn't it be?
Isn't this similar to what the Premier League was? A breakaway structure?

The premier League still had a relegation system. We could get relegated and be replaced by Brentford. ESL is full on elite protection and somehow we are in there too ?. If this was a normal promotion and relegation tournament then it's easier to accept.

So after more thoughts, i think this is just posturing from the top clubs trying to get more money/power out of UEFA. but if hypothetically if this does go through, does anyone know what the length of "immunity" is for the founding clubs. Lets just say Arsenal finish last every year in this league for 10 years, can they ever be booted out? or is this a full lifetime immunity until this disbands and they create the super duper 10 team league

All of the founders will be scared of having a wobble and being booted out so they'll make sure they're all tied up snug and cant be booted out.

If they are comfortable in knowing they will get significantly less views and money because of it, then absolutely they will.

However, I'm not sure if they actually will, because views and money means way too much for them.
