The thing is youd expect if clubs are goign to come out with a proposal that they would try to sell it... the clubs just tumbled like a pack of cards without so much as a wimper. Apart from Perez, no club or no formal communication mentioned about the real benefits and selling it to everyone. All weird.

Saw a tweet that said English clubs joined out of greed. Other nations out of necessity. They're banking on this project because they're so far in the red.

lol it's just gonna be El Classico in the ESL isn't it.
Every week. 38 times for the ESL, plus midweek El Classico’s in the ESL Cup competition. Of course all of this is started with the ESL Super Cup El Classico to kick off the season.

ESL: we guarantee you 44 El Classico’s per season.

Is this the fastest moving thread in SC, ever?
I thought Jose would run it close but that took seven weeks to get this long, blimey. To think it's still only the length of ~3 match threads though... just goes to show how amazingly busy this place still is in the social media age, great stuff really

I hate Chelsea with a passion but full credit to them if they have withdrawn. For the first time in my life I'm ashamed to be a tottenham supporter. Hopefully Spurs will follow suit soon and I'll be wearing a spurs shirt again with pride
Good to see you posting, buddy.

100% mate it has no genuine regard for the fans he’s basically saying I’m sorry that our plan didn’t work out how I wanted but we will keep trying new things. What an utter ****

You rather a statement closer to the truth or a sugar coated lie? Naive to think otherwise.

All of them are 2 minutes long and streamed as Tik Toks for the younger fans who don't like football.

Can you not be punished for intent and bringing the game into disrepute?
Intent? Of course not. As for the bringing the game into disrepute bit, that’s such a subjective thing that the only way they’d go for that is if they were confident that the clubs, who have more money than then, wouldn’t be able to challenge this legally and get it over turned. Expensive risk to take.

As you’ll remember, we were once kicked out of the FA cup and docked points and heavily fined for alleged illegal payments to players some ten years prior. Sugar took the FA to arbitration, punishment was overturned, FA looked like muppets and had waged money trying to legally defend their heavy handed punishment.

How good do you think the lawyers available to the Sheikh, with all his billions, are?

Ok.

I think the 6,000 odd posts on the ESL just about covers it tbh.

Edit. 5,699.

Sorry. Got a bit Arsenal with my numbers there.

Those withdrawal statements are so disingenuous. Saying they listened to the fans? If they consulted the fans they wouldn't have gone ahead with any of it to begin with.

They underestimated us fans. Spent 5 years with a team of top lawyers planning to fight UEFA and FIFA and the PL and failed to consider us. How out of touch are they

If the others are persisting without the PL clubs then it really must be an attempt to leverage UEFA. There’s no chance it could work with just Spain and Italy.

It will be forgotten within a week
Not by UEFA. Honestly, remarkably poor play by Levy and the others - they've weakened their position. They played their best hand thinking they had a flush and it was a pair of 3s. I dont expect retribution from UEFA but they sure wont feel any need to compromise in the future.
