Yes, Simon Jordan who famously said that the Saudi/PIF takeover of Newcastle was and I quote verbatim, "This idea that Newcastle are going to be bought by this PIF fund is deader than a dead thing from dead land"
You have a lot of experience on large scale construction?Meh.
I'm struggling to see what he's achieved. He tasked himself to build a stadium. Was, what 400m over budget and 2 years late? He made so many changes that we lost any chance of late delivery fees. That there as a ceo is a sackable offence. But we know he can't be sacked.
And that's his crowning achievement because we all know he hasn't achieved on the field.
I reckon I could give you a billion pounds and you'd deliver a stadium. Possibly even on time.

I said nothing about cash. ENIC is an investment company, not a cash trader. It acquires assets, increases the value over a period of years and then sells for a capital gain.Do you really think Joe Lewis' (and any other billionaire's) wealth is in cash? Their wealth is absolutely in circulation and producing jobs and revenues to others, prime example being Spurs themselves.
I like Simon but so many people get all gooey over his well spoken articulate manor. He can still be wrong.
American Dad did a great little bit about it.

As I've said reading up on what they have done rather than what they haven't shows they have been changing and evolving over the last 20-25 years or so. Again it's not easy to change generations of thinking over night and just passing a few laws isn't the answer. As we can see in Iran right now it's the peoples thinking that needs to change as that's what really matters. The laws will follow once the people are more accepting of the changes, and gradually that is happening. Are Qatar really interested in changing their ways though? Or are they just the most moderate of a pretty illiberal set of states? My analogy was more for humour than anything else but in its basic elements it’s still works.
Qatar are probably the most moderate of the gulf states, but their just the best of a bad bunch. That’s doesn’t make them ok.
The latter most likely. Even if they gave Levy a transfer war chest he'd interfere in how it would (or wouldn't) be spent. As I said earlier DL is the problem you could throw unlimited money at him and he'd still act the same way.Does this actually benefit the club in any way, or just line the pockets of ENIC?
Exactly this, as long as Levy is in charge we aren't going to start spending like Chelsea etc regardless how big our warchest is. Not that Chelsea is a model we want to follow as they look like they have no fucking clue what they are doing, but purely in regards to the amount of money they spend on players. Personally i'm still not convinced we will even have a bigger budget after all the money will still have to come from Lewis/Enic one would assume considering they are the primary owners and QSI will be funding PSG's transfers and contracts etc. Aside from the initial buy in, which we probably wont see any of as it will no doubt largely go into Lewis and Levy's pockets, i don't see how QSI could or would help us in the transfer market. Not that i actually know. The latter most likely. Even if they gave Levy a transfer war chest he'd interfere in how it would (or wouldn't) be spent. I'm sure if they did invest that not much will be invested into the playing squad. If levy has his way maybe another hotel or appartments.Does this actually benefit the club in any way, or just line the pockets of ENIC?
This soooooo boring reading a comment like this on every page ?I'm sure if they did invest that not much will be invested into the playing squad. If levy has his way maybe another hotel or appartments.
I totally agree, though I think Oman is probably the most moderate gulf state. The reality is that they are all changing. My parents worked in Saudi in the late 90s and it is an extremely different place now. I spent the last 3 years working in Oman and during those three years the requirement for an NOC (modern slavery) to change jobs was removed. Systemic change takes time and unfortunately it is very easy to buy into the narrative that middle east = bad because it is different. I am 100% not saying that everything is great there, I personally found it extremely difficult culturally and my children hated it, but there is positive change happening in these countries. As I've said reading up on what they have done rather than what they haven't shows they have been changing and evolving over the last 20-25 years or so. I agree, It's fine to criticise Levy but I think you have to stick to the facts. He has always reinvested everything back into the club and this is a pretty tired narrative that he's using club money to do other stuff. This soooooo boring reading a comment like this on every page ?
If we want Qatar to change, we shouldn't accept this money. There's a reason they throw money around - to prop up their regime. It's called sport washing. Accepting their cash does not help make them more liberal, despite what the likes of FIFA like to claim. As I've said reading up on what they have done rather than what they haven't shows they have been changing and evolving over the last 20-25 years or so. Would assume it would benefit ENIC as they would be selling part of their stake in the club, whether anyone would be appointed to the board from QSI is another matter. You have to hand it to Levy & ENIC though , anyone who can get a boxing promoter to promote a sell out boxing event in the open air in a British winter in December deserves applause.Does this actually benefit the club in any way, or just line the pockets of ENIC?
Completely agreeI agree, It's fine to criticise Levy but I think you have to stick to the facts. He has always reinvested everything back into the club and this is a pretty tired narrative that he's using club money to do other stuff.
For interest sake, why is this the case? I'm clueless.
I never said it was, I said they are changing regardless of the sports washing, but these things take time.If we want Qatar to change, we shouldn't accept this money.
