The yank with pink hair looks about 60. Hope I'm that fit at that age.
Yep, watched it with my son and we were both saying that watching the women is so much more entertaining than the men's team.Woo! Good win. Enjoyed that more than any of the England men's matches over the last year or so.
I think that one of the things women's football has going for it at the very highest level is that the technical side of the game can develop to a similar (or better!) level to the men's game, but without the almost-Olympic sprinter level speed across the ground. It just gives the players a second longer to get the ball under control and so you get more interesting patterns of play. Our men's team could only dream about the combinations the women are putting together through the middle of the pitch.Yep, watched it with my son and we were both saying that watching the women is so much more entertaining than the men's team.
Was a good game, if a little nervous at times with the faffing about around our own box.
There was one spell where a midfielder kept passing the ball back to the defenders, even if there were forward options on. That started to wind me up a bit but all in all, a good game of footie and a great result.
That was Keira Walsh - holding midfielder. Brilliant player. They play with ice in their veins. Our CB is facing her own goal, on the penalty spot, being tackled by two attackers, and she's still looking to see if she can turn and get a pass off.
What are they doing next month?
We've got a double-header this weekend- the Red Roses play Fiji today. Like the football, the rugby team is, IMO, far more entertaining than the men's game. It's like a throwback to the 60s/70s with some brilliant back play akin to the likes of Gerald Davies, David Duckham and JJ Williams.Yep, watched it with my son and we were both saying that watching the women is so much more entertaining than the men's team.

Likewise. The way Americans talk about "soccer" seems so alien. This from the WaPo:
Lauren Hemp scored for No. 4 England in the 10th minute, and after Sophia Smith tied in the 28th, Georgia Stanway restored the lead four minutes later on a penalty kick.
Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman scored an apparent equalizer in the 36th minute, but after video review detected an offside violation during the terrific U.S. buildup to the goal, it was nullified.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to watch that game in catch-up because it's at 4.30am over here. We've got a double-header this weekend- the Red Roses play Fiji today.
