Much has been written about our problems this season. To me our biggest problem for a long time has been that midfielders have not been scoring. Capoue, Lennon, Chadli, Eriksen, Dembele, Carroll, Livermore, Siggy, Huddlestone, Sandro, Holtby, Paulhino and Townsend were absent from the scoresheet all too often in the last two seasons and this has put pressure on us. In 38 games of season 2012/13 and in the first 15 of 2013/14 these 13 players only scored a combined 16 goals for us. Bale got 21 and Dempsey 6 across that period ......and arguably these two were attackers!
Suddenly the Spurs midfield is weighing in again with goals in the past 3 matches....hopefully spreading the goalscoring load through the midfield might take the pressure off our attacking players.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that we weren't playing in a way that would allow the creation of good chances. Most of our chances were long range shots which are always low percentage.

Capoue, Chadli Eriksen Paulinho & Townsend were absent from our score sheets over the last 2 seasons mainly because they were not even in our squad.

The main problem that we have had for the past 2 seasons has been that we have not had strikers/forwards to put the ball in the onion for us. Yes our midfielders should contribute, but we should not be expecting them to score more/as many as our forwards.

Without a 20+ goals a season forward in our team, it is very difficult for us to challenge on any front.

We are getting players in the box and putting the ball in quickly
