Do other teams' fans fear us?

Maybe it's just that I'm sometimes pessimistic. Every time I look at the next fixture Spurs have, I can look at the opposition and think "wow, player x,y,z, we're in trouble here." Especially looking at the Goons, Citeh, Chelski, Manure etc. And although I think we're a good team, with a handful at least of very good players, do you think / know that other teams fans break out in a cold sweat when they see us looming up on the horizon?

When all fit, yes.
Something that will be heightened when we get a shiny new striker (or that miserable lot start sscoring again).

p.s. It's time to unleash the Pav:grin:

I have friends who are Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal fans, and in the last couple of seasons they have all definitely changed their tune when it comes to playing us.

They used to see it as a game they deserved to win. Now they see it as a game that could go either way. The Arsenal fans I know are especially fearful (compared to cock-sure arrogance they used to have).

In fact most of my mates have more confidence in Spurs than I do, and I often need convincing/reminding that we actually have one hell of a team at the moment.

After yesterdays result against Burminum my gooner work mate is absolutely scared stiff about any team playing against them. After our last win at the emirates he says gooner supporters are shit scared of Pav and JD! Wonder why?

Maybe Wenger has a deal in place with us to swap them for Walnut and Van Posey???

Same here, SK. Most of my friends are Chelsea and they are all very complimentary about us these days compared to what used to be one-way abuse in the days of '3 point Lane'. They mostly talk about the 'great' football we play and what decent players we have. There's no doubt in thier minds we have the better squad.

They should be afraid of us. We have the best squad for many years and don't tell me they don't worry when Bale is in full flight.

I just wish Defoe would regain form because when he's hot, he's scalding.

in my opinion NO. we have been such a soft touch in past 20 plus years you dont just get rid of that in one or 2 seasons. united win half their games on reputation alone - teams fear going to old trafford, expect nothing and play like that. with players the way they are now they are not as strong mentally to challenege those at top. even some managers dont even bother at bug clubs i.e big sam. mccarthy etc.

coupled with this we still have stigma of selling our best players to big club like united so we have to rid ourself of this if we are to move to next level.

teams and fans always fancy playing, always. maybe little less away from home but like wolves next weekend, they will go for us and be well up for it. blackpool is case in point last week. not much respect shown there and rightly so. they smelt blood and beat us

I'll go with this.

Although, I do think there are small signs that the longer we continue to have success the more others will take us seriously. But for now the "oh well, it's Spurs so they're bound to fuck up at some point" still lingers.

There has definitely been a change in attitude since our success last season. The real changing point was when absolutely everyone gave us no chance of fourth with our run in...with Chelsea, Arse, City and United all to play...most other fans saw us taking a point or two from that - we took 9 and by God it felt good seeing them all look on in astonishment.

City really fear us, of course they do.

to be honest, I no longer fear any one individual player from the opposition. This is partly because my confidence in spurs has grown, I know if we play our own game to the level we are capable of, we'll come off winners more often than not. The other noticeable difference is that teams in the prem league are a lot closer to each other in standard than they were in the past. We no longer have the likes of bergkamp, shearer, Van nistlerooy, henry, ronaldo who could all produce a moment of sheer brilliance out of nothing.

Azrarl and kdspur, I would not want to even think about what your attitude would ve if we were in a relegation scrap. Probably want to kill yourselves.

Chin up lads. This is a new, feistier, got more fight than Mike Tyson, more class than anyone around, stronger mentally, type of Spurs. Teams fear us. Yes they do. They say, Tottenham? The team that beat the European Champions and AC Milan at the San Siro, the team full of flair, fight, fast flowing football, Modric, Bale, Lennon, Van der Vaart, Tottenham? Oh shit.

Now let me hear ya'll say it!!!

I actually really think they are starting to. I think Chelsea, and particularly John Terry, look quite perturbed at the prospect of Bale(y) having a go atthem.

United are certainly giving us more respect.

Slightly less these days but I'm still a nervous Nelly watching us play. The I'd say we get under the skin of City fans, the appear to lie awake at night thinking of ingenious ways to destroy us as a coping mechanism for their otherwise overwhelming fear.

The assnal lot actually care now. Chelsea fans are the one who really seem to take us seriously in my limited experience. They are worried.

yanited, always seemed to have a soft spot for us, helped that we were an easy touch for decades I guess. They seem to like us having our moment in the Sun and as such I don't think they consider us a credible threat yet, regarding titles and the like.

While I agree with you argument, I think the emphasis was more on how other fans saw us as oppose to players and managers. It seems that most of those who have replied seem to have missed this point as well. IMO the question had nothing to do with how well we are doing or how big a squad we have, are we are going to win the league etc, the question was about other Fan's opinion on our players.

Ha, yeah, that sums it up for me.

I thoroughly admire all who have nothing but confidence in us, but, like the original post says, whichever opposition comes looming into view suddenly seem packed with world beaters?

Wolves? Fuck me what a side. Ended Man Utd's run, beat Blackpool 4-0 after we lost to them 3-1. Kevin Doyle = Messi. Etc.
