I am in favor of having a Director of Football...if I am given the job.

I'd have to go Goat. Because while I think it will happen, it's completely dependent on who you install as a DoF. If they are great, then you have a good system. If they aren't, you get a bucket of shit.

As a Bundesliga fan, how well do you think someone like Michael Zorc of Dortmund would do at a club like Spurs?

Seems to be quite a common system in Germany and they always seem to produce great prospects from Eatern Europe and South America.

I have no idea how any German GM's would transition to England. But Zorc? No. He's a one club man. He's been at Dortmund since 1978. And Klopp deserves enough credit for many of their players. As Mainz' trainer he had Subotic, played against Bender and Grosskruetz. But Zorc has built that academy which has produced Sahin and Goetze. However, he's not been very prolific in the market for a number of years, so he has profited from a good relationship with Klopp.

Thanks for the info DP.

Perhaps it goes to show how important it is to get both facets right ie the right man at DoF level and a coach who will work in tandem and in harmony with such a system - get it right and reap the rewards just like Dortmund have achieved this season.

This is what we had, albeit briefly, with Arnesen and Jol.

The obvious thing to do is get the DOF first then give him a budget and send him off to find a head coach. This is what we did with Comolli and Ramos and why, when Ramos was a massive failure, Comolli had to go too.

I am pro the system and believe it would have worked very well for us had Arnesen not been poached by Chelsea.

Surely that was down to the fact the club was in financial ruin.....

Was thinking about this the other day and yes i would take a director of football back now. It seemed to keep fresh players coming through. Right now we are so stale on the transfer front it seems (to me anyway)

With Redknapp in charge i'd have to say yes, else we will constantly be linked with the Phil Neville's and Charlie Adam's of this world.

IIRC (i'm old so......meh) on deadline day, either just before or a few minutes after the deadline SSN interviewed him and the gist was that Levy had rung Harry and hour or two before the close asking if he'd like Adam.

Granted he said he would, but he from that I assume he didn't instigate any approach for him and was not a specific target of his.
