Not a surprising update from O keefe, but shows how unlikely it is. In under 12 hours we need to move PEH on, and spend circa £90M on Johnson and Gallagher. Would love it to happen but seems very doubtful
A lot can happen in a short space of time, its just as a club we're used to transfers dragging out for years

I think it would be an easy deal to conclude. I know there are those concerned Chelsea is going to screw us but from following Boehly’s career at Chelsea and in baseball he is very transactional. We hit the number he has set for Gallagher and he will sell him regardless of the timing or emotions around the deal.

Tottenham and final hour deals are not a good mix generally. If it falls through it'll lead to last minute panic buying

If we sell PEH I think it could happen.

Just not convinced PEH will want to go unless it's AM

I know Chelsea don't traditionally sell to us (or vice versa), but I imagine it might be different under the new regime.

Ange's system relies on low cross cut backs into the area. Gallagher is great at finishing those chances. I can see why he wants him. No Kane and Richy up front means we need to spread the goals across the team. If he comes in and gets 7 or 8 league goals this season that could be a priceless amount of points.

I do wonder if he really wants to come to us though. He's been at Chelsea for so long, I can't imagine he would love to be a Spurs player. Arsenal yeah, they are basically the same club, but not us.

Their transfer strategy requires a large amount of sales every year just to balance the books, so you may be right. They are going to be forced to accept money for players they don't want to sell sometimes.

Tottenham close in on deal for Chelsea's Conor Gallagher

Chelsea and Tottenham are currently negotiating the transfer of Conor Gallagher with the key problem in closing a deal for the England midfielder one of price. Having turned down a £40m offer from West Ham last month, Chelsea want £45 million for the 23-year-old while Spurs’ valuation is closer to £35 million.

It remains to be seen whether the two parties can reach an agreement before today’s deadline. Gallagher would be the fourth Cobham academy graduate to leave Chelsea in this window alone, with the possibility that Trevoh Chalobah also departs today for Bayern Munich. As with Gallagher, that deal is also being worked upon.

Having invested heavily once again in this summer window, Chelsea’s view is that they should realise top value for academy players with extensive Premier League experience. Gallagher was named in a very competitive England squad by Gareth Southgate this week - one of four Cobham graduates included along with Levi Colwill, Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori. Once again, indicative of just how successful the Cobham operation has been over the last 15 years under academy director Neil Bath.

Gallagher has been a regular so far under Mauricio Pochettino and has two years left on his deal.

Chalobah, surprised we haven’t looked at that deal if we are now dealing with Chelsea. Big, quick, decent technical skillset, and can play right or left CB.

I want him purely because the Chelsea manager seems to really like him and would be really funny to piss him off  (y)

Shock horror, Spurs don't agree with selling Club's valuation. That's a first. If we think Hojbjerg is 30m, how do we justify saying Connor is only worth 35m?

We probably need an AM least of all the positions we have to fill but Gallagher would be a great signing. Currently we have Skipp and Sarr fighting for the RCM job. While Sarr is excellent, he's young and will need rest and I'm a big fan of Skipp but see him as Yves' understudy as the 6 though he's done ok as an 8.

His reel from Crystal Palace just looks like an audition for the role in this Spurs side. All action, very progressive, happy to switch play and happy to carry it, loves to get in the box, loves to tackle.

HG players have an added premium. See Rice. Good player but no way worth over 100m. Same with our other potential signing Johnson. No way is he worth 50m yet.

So Connor Gallagher for circa 40m plus a few add ons isn't bad, all things considered.

Especially if Hojbjerg goes for 30m. It's as if we've signed him for 10-15m plus PEH.

Chelsea fans on their forum absolutely seething 😤 about this and don’t think it will happen (although some think it could because of their FFP situ) and don’t want it to happen 🤞

For me, he’s an English version of Hatate who Ange had at Celtic, would bring great energy to our midfield.

Gallagher, Maddison, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr all playing with eachother at times would be amazing to see.
