Moyes must be spitting fire right about now
This may be interesting.....if i remember correctly Arsenal actually did a good job with the agreement when they sent him to Barca.
I remember seeing that they had a bunch of clauses inserted into the agreement with Barca that activate if a PL team try for Cesc. I believe they would get the right of first refusal if any team from the PL goes in for Cesc and considering that Cesc has always spoken fondly of Arsenal and Wenger i think he would be more than happy to go back to Arsenal. But i think they also got a sell on fee if he goes to the PL, so they would get a chunk of whatever anyone pays for Cesc.
Would be interesting to see what Arsenal would do if a Chelsea came in for Cesc, i don't think Roman would care if money effectively went over to the dust covered "war chest"...but would Arsenal match the offer because Cesc playing for Chelsea (really CFC, City, United and Spurs) would drive every single Arsenal fan absolutely fucking crazy and the club would get shit on by the press on top of it.
I think Chelsea could probably beat Arsenal out on wages, especially if he is Lampard's replacement.
Fabregas makes 6 million euros per year, Lampard makes 8 million pounds, so Chelsea could offer Fabregas a pretty big raise to join them. Not sure Arsenal would match that.
I'm not sure Arsenal would match it either, but i wonder what would happen if CFC actually forced their hand....Arse are always under the microscope....If Chelsea were to drive for a title with Cesc as a integral part of the team while Arse again tread water at the 4th slot (regardless if CFC have a better squad or manager or anything else)....they would get crucified by the media and the supporters.
Problem for Arse is....they need a striker, they need a quality holding mid, they will need a RB....they don't need Cesc and if they were to make a move for him it would take funds away from being used on what they actually needed.
