United don't want him, arsenal don't want him so that could mean us. If we can get rid of sigs, Dembele, Townsend and a few others then why can we not target him?

Wasn't Salah the Lampard replacement? Or was it Willian? Or Schurrle? Or...
Erm... I don't think any of the wingers are considered a central midfielder's replacement. If you are trying to imply that Chelsea are simply stock piling attacking talent, I do not believe that is the case this time. They genuinely need a cm to replace Lampard's performances.

I don't disagree, my point was any attacking non CF they've signed is the Lampard replacement, especially as he didn't get much game time this season.

Cesc Fabregas has agreed personal terms with Chelsea. The club must now reach a fee with Barcelona, who want €36 million for the midfielder.

This may be interesting.....if i remember correctly Arsenal actually did a good job with the agreement when they sent him to Barca.

I remember seeing that they had a bunch of clauses inserted into the agreement with Barca that activate if a PL team try for Cesc. I believe they would get the right of first refusal if any team from the PL goes in for Cesc and considering that Cesc has always spoken fondly of Arsenal and Wenger i think he would be more than happy to go back to Arsenal. But i think they also got a sell on fee if he goes to the PL, so they would get a chunk of whatever anyone pays for Cesc.

Would be interesting to see what Arsenal would do if a Chelsea came in for Cesc, i don't think Roman would care if money effectively went over to the dust covered "war chest"...but would Arsenal match the offer because Cesc playing for Chelsea (really CFC, City, United and Spurs) would drive every single Arsenal fan absolutely fucking crazy and the club would get shit on by the press on top of it.
