Yes, I know you all think I have lost my marbles, but I will tell you why I am thinking this.

The other day the England manager got a slagging off for saying that he felt England would do well to get to the quarter final of the world cup. I thought it was an awful thing to say, as I want to win the world cup.

If you don't target the top prize your not likely to 2nd, 3rd or even fourth. I am sick of people talking about top 6 or top 4, lets talk about winning the league. We are a whisper away from having the BEST squad in the prem, if Mr Ramos can get them playing as a team quickly, why can't we do it.

Spurs for the league.

On paper our team could look fantastic going into the season. Not just the new signings but players coming back from injury especially bale and ekotto!

I dont think were capable of winning the league anytime soon, although we could mount a challenge on the likes of Liverpool and Arse next season. We should be aiming for 4/5 this season but it will all depend on how the team gels, who is leaving us and who else is joining!

We need more strength in depth in CB and CM - mainly defensive areas anyway.

I really think the 4-2-3-1 looks impressive!!

3 more quality players and we need our existing key players to remain fit for 90% of league matches. Those key players are King, woodgate, Bale, Berbatov, Bentley, Modric and a better player than Jenas alongside Modric. Then we have a chance.

Valuations of those players on current market values are:

King (fit one) £20 million
Woodgate (fit one) £20 million
Modric £16million
Bentley £15 million
Bale £15 million
Berbatov £30

Personally i think our seasson will depend on how we start the campaign. If we can win say our first 5 matches(in cluding Chelsea away), and not lose any key players for big periods of the seasson then i beleive we COULD have a very very good year.
However if we were to start the seasson off in the same vain as last year i think a cup will be our only hope of success again.
Because our squad is largly full of new players (modric, gio etc) and players returning form injury having not played many games for us in the past(Bale, Ekkotto), the moral of the team could swing either way quickly. If we get into a winning mentality we have the players to keep winning, then who knows!

Arguments about wether we can finish in the top four are becoming a bit outdated,so now we discuss if we can win the league ?
I kind of get the point though about having high aims though.

"A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at."

I used my £10 sky free bet to tip us to win the league. 66-1.

We might finish top of our UEFA Cup group, but the prem, nah.

Maybe contenders in a couple of years if we keep strengthening and everything goes well.

yes, why not. as bentley said, if we really put our minds to it we can achieve anything. the difference is this season we have players and a manager that have a strong belief and determination to reach the top.

aim high and reach for the moon, so even if you fall, you will still hit the stars.

The point is that what we have to do is try and win the league

If we get a couple of strikers in; Manure loses Ronnie and drink and gambling consumes Rooney; Fat Frank leaves for Italy and Terry suffers a massive concussion; Fibreglass goes to Real Madrid and Keano improves upon his flapping but not his scoring skills, we will sweep the board.
