Was it just me or was Bassong excellent in the second half?

Fighting for a future, or is there such a thing?

Great performance from him tonight, Looked far more composed on the ball and used his pace effectively to recover from teammates mistakes at times. Best performance in a long time. Perhaps he has a future at the club?

When I saw Bassong coming on, I'm sure like most I started to worry. Proved me wrong, played excellent and was one of the positives tonight, hopefully this can be a kick start for his season, if so I would say we would not need to dip in the market for a defender in January.

He was excellent today,I know he has the odd bad game but I always thought he was a good player.Remember it was him and Dawson who were the two CBs who played most of the season when we got into the Champions League.

time for him and gallas at the back. assuming king is injured

Sorry what? Are you suggesting dropping Kaboul who's been immense? Also, did you not see Gallas being shrugged off the ball by Peter Crouch? Do you know that when there are high wind warnings Crouch has to wear cement filled platfrom boots so that he doesn't end up on the Isle of fucking Wight? If anyone in today's back line needs dropping it's Gallas. Apart from having a scary croaked voice after the match, what does he do? He's not quick, his positioning isn't great and he's quite short.

I think he meant because Kaboul will be suspended for next game.

I don't. Because obviously it's Bassong & Gallas in the next match if King is out. We're not going to play Modric there are we? We don't have any other options.

This.

The sudden turn on Bassong was ridiculous. He is a talented player but he needs to play in a system he understands to get regular decent performances.

Didn't want him to leave in the summer...don't want him to leave in January...he's a good CB..unfortunately we'll never convince him to be 5th choice behind King, Kaboul, Gallas and Dawson.

Yes Bassong looked very good when he came on. Probably would have dealt with aerial threat better than Gallas for the simple reason that he's bigger than him!

He was bullied for the first goal by both Walters and that comedy juggler geezer but I've watched it umpteen times now and there were a catalogue of errors, really. I love Kaboul but he switched off completely-he allowed Crouch to ghost in behind him, then he ballwatched while he waited for the referee to blow for a handball. Lennon should have been tracking Etherington's run but he was also guilty of ballwatching. Friedel could have come for that cross-it took a long time to drop onto Walter's head. We just had our heads up our arse.

I have been saying this and people just laugh, its disgrace how arrogant some of our fans have got, suggesting we are level above bassong despite him being key in our 4th place finish

maybe whilst sitting on the bench he see's whats going on in the game and what to look out for?

We did look much better with the 3 centre backs second half. Bassong was left of the three and only occasionally needed to get to the touchline because Bale at left wing back was playing his natural game. I'm pleased for Bassong but can't see him in for BAE too often bcause 3 5 2 was just a throw of the dice at 0-2 for Harry.

Bassong was excellent - a big positive. Cool, composed and assured - and his pace is an asset too. If he can improve his decision-making, he would be a good squad player for us.

Whether Harry also thinks that in January, who knows.

Gallas is the weak link IMHO. Too slow, doesnt organise the defence, so doesnt bring much to the table bar experience, which doesnt seem to helo those around him.
We are in troube next few games with Gallas and Bassong at the back. I predict two goalfests
