Sorry if this has been discussed before........

Would AVB be able to do a job a Spurs? I mean at Chelsea it was rumored that he was undermined by the likes of Lampard and Terry but all in all is he a good enough manager to do a job here?

If we were going to give him time, then I would take him. The problem with AVB is, will we have the same problem as we did under Juande? Will the English core of the squad simply fail to digest his tactics?

The majority of our squad couldn't understand anything Ramos said, let alone his tactics!

I'm all for AVB. He would suit us more than Chelsea. He was the worlds hottest managerial property only a few months ago.
I think he would be a very good long term option.

I'd certainly be open to giving him a go.

Rather him than a boring safe option like Moyes.

What's the deal with him though? Is he available or is there some clause that he can't manage in the EPL just yet?

As far as I'm aware, that's all speculation due to the fact that Mourinho had a similar clause. Ancellotti seemed pretty keen on returning to the EPL the season after Chelsea got rid of him so presumably he had no such clause.

I have said before that he would be on my shortlist. I think he will have learned from the Chelsea job, where he probably tried to revolutionise too fast and met resistance from senior players.

I still believe he is a talented manager in the making and that if we are looking at a long term project then his name should be on the shortlist.

It would be interesting to see his transfer policy though as they brought in (in the summer) Mata, Romeu, Merieles, Lukaku and Courtois - the last two remain to be seen but both highly rated and the first three are all good buys, especially Mata.

Unfortunately for AVB he was just at the wrong club at the wrong time as the big ego's at Chelsea rule the roost there and AVB tried to do too much too soon but I think his logic was there - if it turned out to be the case that we couldn't hold on to Modric and Bale in the summer, coupled with a lot of question marks over Adebayor, Ledley, Friedel etc, I would like to think we would trust AVB to preside over a complete overhaul in personnel and more importantly, the ethos of the club.

I think it was Duncan Castles that said that he was still being paid by Chelsea until he gets a new job.

Already posted this in the 'Who Will Be Our Next.......' and thought it should go in here too.

AVB would be like taking Wenger in 1991 just after he won the UEFA Cup. At that point they were pretty much equal in honours. Had AVB stayed at Porto for another few years then I'm sure he would have won consecutive back-to-back titles. Wenger stayed at Monaco just a few more years before departing from a brief stint at Nagoya Grampus.

A massive advantage is AVB already has EPL experience and would have learned from mistakes picked up a Chelsea. I think AVB would be the best option for the short and long term. Given the resources and having one of the best training facilities around, opening in the summer, I think he could really excel at Spurs.

Maybe so, its just the impression I got from him. His heart never really seemed in it, for example he never really improved his grasp of the language beyond basic/just enough to get by.
