To add.. we threw the towel in at 3-1 with the subs , yes the game was “done” but we thought that in 2008 when we were 4-2 down and bottom of the table with two minutes to go

Also, a bit odd to not give young Spence a chance. He played well for England, and had Martinelli in his pocket last season.

actually think we’ve been the better team - they look petrified every time we attack. richy motm so far

Bentancur has been outstanding this half. Such a stylish footballer.

We got this….

I think we’ve done well defensively. It’s backs to the wall stuff but we’ve limited them to speculative efforts.

We’ve let them huff and puff and we have another couple of gears to go up yet if we need to.

I think we had a great second period to that first half.

If we can just sharpen up our passing we could score a few.

We should be looking to win this now.

That's the mentality we need.

We have gears to go up! For 10 mins we played with a bit more intensity around the goal. We look like getting in numerous times, just slack passing. Tight for the first 10 after the half then get at them.

Decent job there.
Penalty huge for us
Still uncomfortable, having to soak it up but we finish the half better than we started it.
Making chances, hopefully can take one in the second

Lucky to be 1-1 ?! Arsenal lucky they aren’t losing tbh
Some opinions at HT just to show that it certainly wasn't "pathetic" or bad tactics.

They'll be comparisons to our 3-0 win last season and how they self combusted but I think they self-combusted because of Arteta's tactics. We self-combusted because it was a typical big game error and nothing to do with tactics.

We weren't playing with 10 men though

I’ll be honest, when I saw the lineup, I wasn’t confident. We lose so many midfield battles, I really hoped Conte would go with a three in there. I didn’t comment cos of the ‘oh your negative’, but I feel this one is on Conte. Missed opportunity. I also commented before Leicester that a team soon would punish us for the way we play.
I did too, and said something similar before kick off this morning and got two off topic ratings.
It most certainly wasn't off topic, and hey ho that's almost exactly what happened. I certainly didn't enjoy being proved right, I was sincerely hoping I'd be wrong, as it's far more important to me that we win or avoid defeat than getting proved right.

He's been the biggest disappointment of our new signings for me. He's puts in 2 or 3 dangerous crosses a game but as of yet I've not seen him do much else. I thought he'd be popping up in dangerous positions, scoring goals, but not really seen much of that. His ball retention doesn't look great and defensively he looks suspect. Not sure if he's just suffering because we are playing poorly but I was expecting more.
100%. I said this myself. I actually think I’d rather play Sessegnon.

Early days in the season still a long way to go, swings and roundabouts and all that so I'm genuinely not going to lose my shit over this game.
Currently our ppg would see us around 80pts and so far we’ve played Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham away in 8 games… so today was a big disappointment but I doubt Conte is going to be tearing it all up and starting again.

Was about to say this.

Having those three out of the way is a big bonus. Weve got 2 points more from that compared to last season and really helps to get those games out the way.

Gives time for Conte and the team to work on some things and improve for the home games.

Clockwork …

- 1-0 down through a screamer at the emirates
- Equalise with a Kane penalty
- Annual Hugo Emirates cock up
- Stupid red card
- capitulate

Then we win at home !

They were much slicker and better on the ball than us , we haven’t evolved at all since poch left at all, the footballs got worse . Arsenal are so slick on the ball
because we failed to replace dembele and eriksen

Yeah you can't complain about the eventual subs. The game was done by that point and we're playing like every three days for the next 6 weeks. Trying to save the legs of some players was right. I'd probably have liked to keep Richarlison on up top as someone who could run and drag us up the pitch, but he might be needed a lot in the next few weeks depending on injuries and saving him and Son probably right. Kane doesn't run really ever in any games anymore so arguable whether he needs rest. If he does I'd ask why....

To repeat. the disappointing stuff from the manager today was what happened in the minutes between red card and third goal. The response from us was just chaotic. No reorganisation (the right flank was just vacant) and no one had any idea what they were doing, just people getting dragged all over the place and arguing amongst themselves as to who should do what. It needed his leadership, we didn't seem to get it.

We can only play a 3 man midfield if our wingbacks are great going forward. Ours aren’t. Well Emerson certainly isn’t. We would win the ball back and then not be able to do anything with it.

I think we all saw this coming with the formation we’ve been playing. We can’t control the midfield and it’s a big problem.

Not making excuses for the team but at half time we looked ok , 2nd half begins and within a minute Romero has got behind their defence and son is in the box for a great chance , a minute later we let in a Sunday league game . Stupid red and game over . Also we have to take into account that 90% of our team played 2 international games and we had no time to prepare where as they only had 2 players away . This small margins can be the difference .

This is the theme of the North London derby for several years. Away team doesn't turn up. Comfortable home win. I had no shock about how this played out. We'll probably turn them over at WHL in the reverse fixture.
