Yes, for me I don’t see why Valverde would make that up. AB was then found to be lying in the punch investigation too. Character concerns off the chartSo you're writing him off based on something that has not been proven?

Given our recent history - I don't believe this is an issue.
If we are really targeting him, I think Ange has a spot for him in the squad.
The key word here is 'alleged'.What he is alleged to have said to Valverde is disgusting and enough to put me off signing him
What did he allegedly say? What he is alleged to have said to Valverde is disgusting and enough to put me off signing him
Allegedly he said “cry now that your son is not going to be born” according to Valverde and his entourage plus made some crying gestures but it’s worth noting that Baena absolutely denied this and his club released this statement “Villarreal CF rejects any act of violence and firmly believes in the player’s version of events and will support him throughout the process”. Baena then proceeded to try to sue Valverde for assault which was unsuccessful. What did he allegedly say?
Yeah, that would be a despicable thing to say but I'm not going to make a decision on the lad based on a story like that.Allegedly he said “cry now that your son is not going to be born” according to Valverde and his entourage plus made some crying gestures but it’s worth noting that Baena absolutely denied this and his club released this statement “Villarreal CF rejects any act of violence and firmly believes in the player’s version of events and will support him throughout the process”. It’s a bit of questionable situation but one would think, as with all our targets, we would do a very thorough character check and Ange would have to talk to them first to make sure he has the right mentality for the team. I’m sure they would have looked at this situation.
Totally agree and it's unfortunately just a sad reflection on how many people think nowadays - black and white thinking. God help anybody if they make a mistake or say something wrong as you get written off forever for it. No room for forgiveness or opportunities to learn anymore. This always makes me laugh because judgements on a players character and/or stuff he may or may not have done almost certainly come from people who've done nasty or stupid things at some point in their lives as well. And almost certainly some of you, in real life, have the morals of a polecat. Not wanting Spurs to sign him for what? Something he might have done? And if he did, as unsavoury as the alleged whatever might be, is there no room for regret and learning a lesson?
It's the constant and totally unforgiving nature of it. Some of you must lead fucking perfect lives and for those who actually don't, have you ever got past a mistake, regretted it? Or do people have to hold it against you for the rest of your life. And I couldn't give a 9 inch shit with added sweetcorn about the standards footballers are held to, they are also fallible and human.
TBH I don't much care what he's supposedly done, nothing is proven and if he plays well for Spurs and behaves himself, that'll do for me.
Fucking dickpickles.
PS: I know i'm going to leave myself open to 'clever' comments on this and I won't be forgiving you
Baena isn’t fit to play wide in the PL especially in our system.
I can’t emphasise enough how much of a central player he is. He’s not a wide player at all. It would be the equivalent of putting Lo Celso RW. In fact worse as Gio is better at dribbling.
It would a truly horrendous case of profiling and squad building.
lol someone’s disappointed the answer to the cryptic wasn’t Williams, aren’t they.It would a truly horrendous case of profiling and squad building.
Honestly the whole thing was a bit of mess. From what I’ve read during the legal proceedings Baena testified that Odriozola was there, Odriozola then testified that it was only a verbal argument not a physical altercation but then Madrid supplied video evidence that showed Odriozola wasn’t there. Essentially the legal proceedings got shelved due to lack of evidence and inconsistency in testimony. Valverde’s match ban then got overturned as a result.Yeah, that would be a despicable thing to say but I'm not going to make a decision on the lad based on a story like that.
As you say, Ange knows his biscuits and will speak to him before making any final decision. If he has his doubts, he'll shut the move down like he has before.
Has a bit of Eriksen about him.

I think I’ll trust Ange to know if a player is going to improve us.Not at all as we’re clearly looking at him too given the links in the media (and the fact he fits the profile for our current system).
Just telling you that if Baena gets played wide then our system must be completely changing to an overlapping fullback system. If we play him wide in our current system it will be a clusternaff as we will have zero width on the left hand side.
I think I’ll trust Ange to know if a player is going to improve us.
Just swear dammit!clusternaff
Or because Ange wants the ability to mix things up and change the game. It’s not all about having the same type of players for every position. As an AM competing with Maddison? Absolutely, superb potential.
As a winger in our current system? Nailed on disaster.
You can ask @Ghost Hardware for more on this, pretty sure he will agree with me that the only way Baena fits in wide for us is with a complete overhaul of our attacking structure.
Can we just sign valverde instead lolAllegedly he said “cry now that your son is not going to be born” according to Valverde and his entourage plus made some crying gestures but it’s worth noting that Baena absolutely denied this and his club released this statement “Villarreal CF rejects any act of violence and firmly believes in the player’s version of events and will support him throughout the process”.
