Right, so about 5 more weeks until we really start ramping up. I’ll worry about it then but I think this guy could be a decent player.

Whilst €26 million is cheap, this guy has had 3 big injuries in the last 3 years:

16/17 - Meniscus tear - Feb 18, 2017 - Jun 30, 2017 = 132 days
15/16 - Ruptured cruciate ligament - Oct 26, 2015 - Feb 8, 2016 = 105 days
15/16 - Knee injury - Sep 22, 2015 - Nov 15, 2015 = 54 days

Does this mean we're saving the money from Martial for someone else????

Maybe we can replace Lamelas hips with this guys and make a complete player between them both

The one thing I will say about him if the stories are true is that it will have come from the head scouting guy (this name escapes me) as he's meant to be an expert on the French league. So it really will be a good indicator of how good he actually is at his job because lets remember that recent incomings to the PL from France have hardly set the world alight.

I agree he looks more of a striker back up than anything else. If he comes in then we must be confident of moving Janssen and Llorente on as I can't see him coming and taking up a squad place at the prices mooted without those two going.

He took over from Paul Mitchell last Feb mate. He worked for us many years ago and was heavily involved in scouting and bringing Modric to us. He left to go to Liverpool and scouted Suarez and now he is back as our chief scout.

If we sign them before pre season what difference does it actually make? As long as they are there for day one of Poch Pain. It doesn't matter.

I don’t know a lot about the lad so maybe someone can confirm either way to add substance to his goal scoring credentials, but didn’t those goals come in patches - as in a real purple patch at beginning of season then nothing until the end, including 4 in one game (which I did see on YouTube looked like they were against a very poor defence)

I think he's a perfect player to be backup to Kane.Like poch said all good strikers don't wanna join us because they don't wanna compete with Harry Kane but if we're actually getting him in place of pulisic,Malcolm,Martial then it's a bummer.

Like I say I haven’t seen anything of him to say what impact he’d have for us, I guess my concern is with players who score in patches they tend to be confidence players - as we have seen with other strikers when you are back up getting 10mins here and there and a game every 4 weeks in a cup it’s very differcult to come in impress unless you have that natural confidence in your ability to score goals.

Yeah not overly excited by him but considering the small otpions we have this doesn't look that bad if we're also gonna add another attacker after him.He can play as a midfielder or left winger(with balotelli in the centre) for Nice.

Last season was an outlier though, before that he was not proliffic at all. I wouldn't touch him.

Martial's only had one prolific season (in which he scored fewer that Plea this season).

Plea had 11 goals in 25 games in 16-17 before he got injured, which isn't bad (although I recognise his injury record is a concern)
