Sad news about Gilly's passing. Saw him play many times when I was a kid and he was incredible. He would just drift into position and flick the ball into the back of the net. RIP Alan.
What a legend, best header of the ball I have ever seen. Nice man too, had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions. Last time at Jimmy Greaves 75th birthday party.
So sad to hear the awful news. My thoughts are with all his loved ones. Thanks for those wonderful memories. The world has lost a true gent, rest easy......
Devastated. I actually blubbed when I saw the news. My favourite player from the time my old dad first took me to WHL in 1966.
Don't think I've ever seen anyone with his heading ability since. RIP big man.
Such sad news, gave me some great memories back in the 60's. The way he seemed to drift into space & glance the ball off his head into the net was a joy to behold. RIP
Met him a couple of years ago at a do in Woodford, signed his testimonial programme for me & had a picture with him & Micky Hazard...R.I.P. big man & thank you for wearing our shirt XXX
