On the pitch he’s the perfect Poch midfielder. He’s a player we’ve tracked for years, and is now available on a cut price deal from the only club in world football who have a good relationship with Daniel Levy. His favoured club in Barca have seemingly just dropped out of the race.

Still not gonna happen though is it? ?

I think we would do all that is required to do this. But unfortunetly its all up to Rabiot and his lovely mum.

Win/win situation.

Get him;
He's top quality
Bargain price
Ideal Dembele replacement
Strong, physical, runs all day

Miss out;
He's a nut job and so is his Mum
He'd poison the squad and single handedly destroy the club
He thinks he's too good for us so he can fuck off.

What's not to like?

That's actually not a bad comparison physically. The only thing with Rabiot is his work rate can be pretty awful. He would get away with it most of the time because he was alongside Veratti who is a machine. I personally think that Poch could ether turn him into a world class midfielder or end up trying to ship him out by the end of next season (assuming we got him now). Personally for the money I think it's a risk worth taking but let's not get ahead of ourselves, this is a gamble. One also has to consider he will be in awful condition as he hasn't been training with the main squad. And we all know Poch's fitness request. The first few months would be paramount to how he settles and his future at spurs.

I really do rate Rabiot when all I consider is the football side, I'd love to see him come and knuckle down. Can't help but feel that if we did get him and he performed amazingly it wouldn't be long until he gets interest and kicks up a fuss to leave, in which case he might be a worthwhile short term investment.

Watching that vid I'm reminded of what Poch said about Dembele - "if we'd got hold of you five years earlier we'd have made you the best midfielder in the world". I wonder if he sees that in Rabiot. He might even have told him as much if/when they spoke. There certainly seems to be oodles of talent to work with.

When we ask about players who can come in a improve the first team immediately this is one bloke who fits that bill.

Exactly. Tuchel is a coach who looks to give players like this a platform to improve so I imagine he's tried to motivate him. Either it's failed or the club and Rabiot have fallen out. If it's mostly a Tuchel vs Rabbit thing then it would be a huge gamble as perhaps Rabiot is someone who doesn't like to listen to the coach. We can't take that on board.

I've mentioned this before but I know from someone who has worked/works with both Tuchel and Emery, that Tuchel operates with more of the 'human' side of coaching whereas Emery put more effort into analysis. I understand that Tuchel allows the players a little more freedom on certain things, if Rabiot has fallen out with Tuchel despite the more relaxed environment then that would be a concern. Despite what I've been told, I don't know the ins and outs of the Rabiot situation though.
