How many games have you watched? Steed would be our chief ball winner in 8 of the past 10 games. He has played out of position all year and has constantly got back and covered whichever Joe blow has been placed at left back. He has been inspirational but having such a broad 'be everywhere' role I feel it may have blunted his attacking side. It is unfair to compare Lennon and Steed. Steed always works from end to end while Lennon does so occasionally. The lack of a left footer does cost Spurs but don't blame Steed he is doing a great job for us.

Yep, a dip in form but he's been arguably our best player over the season.

Still not on though, he's not allowed to have a few bad games.

Ship him out! and Lennon.

An apparent burn-out? Reluctance to enter the box? A drop in the number of incisive thrusts into the danger area?

Maybe he's got Orgasmic Cephalgia.

The problem is that his success rate at making those passes is not good. How many assists has he made in the league so far? I guess 5-6 times less than Young.

Young has twelve times as many, but the great majority have come from set pieces, I believe, not open play. Young's passing accuracy is nothing to scream about, and his shooting is barely any better than Malbranque's. When it comes to tackling, there's no contest.

You're comparing totally different players.

Of late Steeeeeed hasn't been up to the high standards set earlier in the season but he is still doing a good job for us and I wouldn't blame him for trailing off a bit, it's been a long season and he worked tirelessly when it mattered.

steed unfortunately holds on to the ball too long in attack and allows defenses to reorganise when we are on the counter attack or misses out on playing the killer ball we desire.... Ramos will definently get in a left winger this summer

I hate that he's now dipped to 7 out of 10, rather than consistently being 9 out of 10.

God to have such hideously underperforming players such as Steed Malbranque.

You lot are fucking screwy. He's doing the job of a left wing back and a left winger, and how anyone on this green Earth can say a bad word against him is beyond me. Well it's not beyond me, it just shows what I always thought. Mainly that you lot are fucking screwy.

Just for the record, he's pretty much the only midfielder that is always looking to go forward. Every time. He's our drive and that eeks out into the rest of the time, forcing us forward.

I love Steed and would happily kill you all just to talk to him. In fact, I might just kill you all anyway.

Why don't you just change your name to Steeeeeeedbati?

I've already made the point that he is still doing a job for us above

Absolutely true. The quickness with which some fans get at the back of players is amaizing.

I am pleased you have raised this...I was gonna do the same but was afraid of being shot down in flames like last time I made a negative comment about someone. I like Steed...his effort is always there to see and we need players who want to work for the team. BUT his form since Xmas has been poo...he seems to run around like a headless chicken at times, ignoring the simple ball and trying to beat the other three players that are now bearing down on him. It is a real shame as he was (one of) our best player (s) until Xmas and if he can regain some of that form, he will warrant his starting place next season. Carry on as he is and he wont be here.

His work off the ball is more than a valid enough reason to not jump on his back during this dip in form compared to earlier in the season.

Agree with all the above and would like to add:

Pros
1) Steed is our best shooter from midfield. He's the only one who could score on the volley.
2) Always gets into scoring positions.

Cons:
1) Doesn't pass the ball wide enough, although this might arguably be Hudd's job.
2) Holds onto the ball for too long, although this might be to do with the movement of the team.

If we sign a good offensive MF in the summer, Steed will be surplus to requirement. Then it is better to sell him and recoup the money we paid for him ?2million as he'll soon turn 30 and his value will decrease.

to be honest. i've never rated steed. I'd go into a massive rant of why he's useless but that would be pointless.

just one point to you knob jockeys who keep bringing up that he's one of the top tacklers in the premiership. its because he's winning the ball back that he lost.

yeah great stat that.
