Yeah does seem a bit like people talking but then again Levy let Tim F@cking Sherwood whisper sweet nothings into his ear and get a job so god only knows how easily Jose could persuade him
The Sherwood thing 100% makes this from Graham entirely plausible and likely true. Levy lets himself get talked into bullshit and the seeds get planted. Once that happens, the managers fucked & the clubs fucked.

Poch was already far along the path towards his inevitable exit by the time that Mourinho might have started to put himself forward for the job. Mourinho wouldn't have been responsible for Poch being sacked. He would only have been responsible for himself being Poch's replacement.

I disagree. The form was shit but he would have gotten more time to fix. If a legendary manager tells you he can win trophies with the same team then that changes how you view things.

I think this is something that has gathered legs over the years but probably isn’t true. I imagine AVB got the sack because, like Hoddle, Jol, Ramos, arguably Redknapp (though obviously at a higher level), Pochettino and now Mourinho, he was getting less out of the squad than the sum of its parts over a sustained period of time.

Good message but easy to write that you've got ambition, much harder to prove it in action.

At least he acknowledges that the club lost sight of the meaningful stuff but mentioning the NHS stuff in the same sentence does make it sound a bit less sincere/more defensive, as does referencing our £250m spend over the past few seasons.

"It has never been because we don’t care about or respect you, our fans – nothing could be further from the truth."

Happy to charge us the highest ticket price in the league for the one home game we can actually attend this year. Happy to charge the highest ticket prices (on average) anywhere in Europe. More than happy to move us to East London if they were given the go-ahead. Happy to join the European Super League and participate in destroying the sport for everybody else in the process.

Pretty words, but their actions betray them.

It wasn't just that the form was shit. Poch had been behaving strangely and saying odd things (eg. that he would leave if Spurs won the CL). He was surly and touchy in pressers; uncommunicative on the training ground. He had lost the players. They wanted him out. The situation was pretty much irretrievable.

Levy and Poch had a very good relationship. No way that Levy would have listened to Mourinho if Poch wasn't already on the way out.

The form went to shit in Feb 2019 in the PL. The City & Ajax CL ties were aberrations (well, not the home leg of Ajax...). The PL form stayed shit until Nov 2019 when Poch was sacked.

As a reminder:
2018-19 PL Matchday 27 to 38:
P12 W3 D2 L7 Pt: 11

(Summer: £60m net spend)

2019-20 PL Matchday 1 to 12 (when Poch was sacked)
P12 W3 D5 L4 Pt: 14

So that's a sequence of 24 consecutive PL games in which we racked up 25 points. That's relegation form, spread over 9 months with more than half a season's worth of games, with significant net spend in the middle.

I think Levy showed a fair bit of patience with Poch when you look at those numbers

more money on ticket less money for hookers and booze - protecting supporters from themselves :)

It’s Donna’s writing for Daniel to put his name on to get fans back onside. It’s just the typical mealy mouthed word salad.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Herc's itk, while to be taken with a handful of salt, suggests that Levy at least acknowledges that he faces a big summer ahead.

Levy actually admits something I levelled at him.

Stadium meant he took his eye off the ball with regards to on the pitch matters.

Also seems to indicate he knows Jose was a mistake.

The rebuild started in the summer. Those same players that were signed didn't even feature for Mourinho so clearly they needed more than 6 months to bed in

Why would anyone believe a word levy says in that article?
we know he has brazenly lied to supporters in the past. What is different now?
i can’t see how he can be trusted.

note Levy says “competing for honours“, not winning honours

25 points out of 72 is actually outrageous :D
