We must not sell Berba to another English club. We mustn't really sell him at all. Unless we get silly money like £50m+, he has to stay.

Now i might get crucified for this, and i do want berba to stay, but looking at the fortunes of everton and arsenal in recent years, selling your best player and talisman isn't always such a bad move.

Our team relies on berbatov too much at the moment - i would like to see some other members of the squad step up to leading the line.

Remember this was 4 goals but against a team who are defensively on a par with us .

Even so , you can't sustain a situation where one player is so far ahead of the others .

Look at Man Utd ; 27?m on Ferdinand , 18.6m on Carrick , ?? on Tevez and 6 figure wages .

Thats what Spurs need to do if they want to retain players like Berbatov and move forward .

If they don't then I hope he doesn't make the mistake of playing another season alongside relative dross .

I don't want to watch the likes of Everton? Boring shite - we need players like berba because their quality rubs off on the rest of the squad and the are so much better to watch when he is on. DB is so far shite, he needs a footballing brain and much as I think keano is having an off couple of games he has a footballing brain much as berba does and that is why they work together well.

Someone else said that there is tonnes of other talent out there -no there is'nt look at all the shit signings made by all clubs (other than the bastard goons) and you'll see how many frogs you need to kiss before you get a prince berba.

if we are going to become a big club we need to stop acting like a feeder and behave like a contender. That means keep and build on your talent.

I think the comments are JR's way of saying that berba wants to stay, i want him to stay but if levy takes 25mill for him in jan then i can't do anything about it and nor can berba.

and in DC terms you never got poor by taking a profit - however you never built a big club by taking profits selling all your best players either.

We need to sell berba when he is 28/29 not now when we need him

Berbatov will 100% guaranteed not leave us in January transfer window. BUT he will 100% guaranteed leave us in the Summer. You can all hold me to that.

Berbatov wil 100% guaranteed never leave us, not in January, not in the summer. You can all hold me to that.

Quite easy this, isn't it. Much like the tabloids printing one day "Berbatov to leave", next day printing "Berbatov to stay", then claiming "we told you first" when one or other occurs.

As I made my bit up, I'd be grateful if you could tell me exactly how you know he will leave in the summer.

i agreed. His demenour is worse than Henry's, talented and can save a game himself but surely his negativity is rubbing off on some of the players.

I believe that Berbs won't sign a new contract, that means we let him go on a free or sell him. He came to us because he thought he was in with a chance of challenging for a champions league place and trophies and we're not really doing that. Indeed its looking like we won't qualify for Europe. He is a top quality player, who deserves to win things, so I wouldn't blame him for leaving. If we want to keep players like Berbs, we must get top quality players in and be up there challlenging.

I may be alone in this opinion but I have observed that Berba only seems to turn it on against weaker opposition.

If he goes, he goes - but we may not be that worse off without him - we nearly achieved a CL spot before he arrived.

Hasn't commolli already said categorically that berba isnt for sale for any price?

To be honest I find Juande's comments puzzling. Maybe this is why he gets Poyet to speak to the press.

Certainly we should not get carried away with 4 against Reading but he is the real deal .

The full benefits of Berbatov will only be seen when he is in a team of better players .

During negotiations the club would want to let a player know that they really want him to stay and are willing to make every effort to achieve that but they don't want to say "at any price", they need to let him know that he can ask for so much and no more(or his agent) because he is not bigger than he club and therefore not indespensible.

Reading Ramos' words I'd say they fit right into that catagory so what it tells me is that away from the glare of publicity the two parties are talking about a new contract the outcome of which may dpend on the second half of the season.

No need for discussion, we all know that whatever happens Berba will leave at the end of the season.

Thanks for all the memories and Good Luck.

He deserves tpo play for a top top club.

As i always said in the past. Berbs will leave in the Summer and not before... This will allow more clubs to come in for him If/when he does, i really hope its abroad somewhere in Spain or Italy ...:bang:

Berbatov will 100% guaranteed not leave us in January transfer window. BUT he will 100% guaranteed leave us in the Summer. You can all hold me to that.

Could one of you explain on what basis you are making these cast-iron assurances about Berbatov's future?

Correct.

He's not going anywhere in January but he's gone this summer to United, we all know it, people really need to just accept it.

Thanks for two magnificent years Berba (he says, hoping the second half of this season is better), enjoy your time with all the other trophy hunting ****s, even thought I can't blame you really.

At times like this I dig out my Man City programme from the last game of the 2006/07 season. In it, chairman Daniel Levy says that we (the fans) have nothing to worry about because all our top players are on long-term contracts and we have no reason to sell.

He says that he is happy for people to judge him on the players that he buys and sells.

So I'll do that.

why should we sell him to another english club? we can't sack managers for not getting us in to the top four and then sell the very players we need to get there!!

A good point.

Personally, I'm still waiting for the soothsayers to come up with explanations as to how they know that Berbatov will '100% leave in the summer'.
