If it's true then you'd expect him to choose us. Lloris, Sissoko and now Tanguy from his country. The stadium, the Poch effect, the training ground. Arsenal In a proper spiral atm and one of their frenchies about to go on strike!!! You'd fancy your chances. CL football aswell. Fuck Arsenal

I think it would make sense though.

Makes sense with Herc’s info about other London clubs, and in my eyes 18 is “well under 21”.

Like others I’d be happy to keep Toby for another year, see him go on a free and bring this kid through next year with another year’s experience on loan at his current club.

Alternatively maybe the Roma interest is real, and the cut price thing is true too and they end up loaning him back to us this season as a returned favour for letting them have him for the cut price ?‍♂️ It seems unlikely but I suppose it’s possible meaning we can get another year out of him and make sure he doesn’t go to another PL club whilst they have to only wait another year and get him cheaper than others meaning when he goes Saliba will arrive a year older and mor experienced

Quite an interesting proposal although, as far as I know, the main reason Toby looks like leaving is because Poch is adamant that he doesn't want him around.

The most brilliant part about this is that Arsenal were offering a back-loaded deal specifically in order to keep their powder dry and have funds available for their other targets this window. By potentially agreeing a different payment structure, we'd be putting them in a position of needing to match.

Best case scenario is that we steal a top talent from underneath their nose. Worst case scenario is that by even trying, we put them in a position of needing to spunk much more of their transfer kitty than they had anticipated would be necessary, thereby kneecapping them for the rest of the window. I suppose it's possible that the player could reject us outright and they'd be unaffected, but given that Bouhafsi reported weeks ago that we were in contact with his camp I doubt we'd be bothering if that were going to be the case.

They desperately need a good centre back this season and you could argue they should probably even look elsewhere to make sure they have that area sorted now rather than in a years time.

They could legitimately fall out of the top 6 this season if they're not careful. Even though their fans would rather them not be in the Thursday Night Cup, Arsenal still need the revenue from that competition.

Partly true I think. He also in the same article that we arent chasing the Leeds midfielder Phillip's so he sort of confirms or denies the rumours.

Confirming what Sky and BBC are already reporting RE Saliba whilst taking the odds that we aren’t really that interested in a CM from the Championship when we’ve been linked with better more recently ...

Surprised some people don't care/only want to sign him cos of Arsenal, yeah thats a bonus, but this guy has real potential from what I've seen, and as you can see so many top French CB's coming through and it looks like he will make it, especially if he comes to us. Even if he stays at S-E for another year its cool. Mans only 18

Only reason why I want us to sign him is to fuck over arsenal as you say, that's because I have never seen him play or know anything about him so no point me saying I want us to get him because he looks good as I'd be lying.

I think if I was his agent I would be placing him here too.

Which club is most likely to develop this kid to his full potential, clearly us.

https://arsenal-mania.com/forum/threads/william-saliba.33645/page-76

“i dont get it Sp**s weren't even in the race few days Mohamed said the deal is done now he saying we yet to agree the few details.”

“Everyone is speaking pure BS. i'm just tired of this transfer window hope it get closed tomorrow.”

“I literally don't get what's wrong with us? I might have to switch off from it all until the start of August its absolutely draining being a supporter of this club.”

“I hate my life.”

“Reckon I was Hitler in a past life.”

“If they nick this guy off us along with us not signing a single first team player then that is the final nail in the coffin for me”

We absolutely have to sign him.

Much like many others on here I've never seen him play, but if he turns out to be one of the best CB's in a generation that will be a huge stick to beat the Gooners with for years to come.

If he turns out not to be all that I'm sure we can recoup a fair amount of his fee by virtue of tee fact that he wont peak until he's 26/27.
