One more scary thing to add to the pile of scary things around the Eriksen transfer/contract situation is the closure of the PL transfer window before the European club window. I dread the prospect of Real Madrid putting together a bid that we would find financially acceptable as of today, but only deciding to make the offer after our window has already closed. With Eriksen out of contract at the end of the season, I can't see us rejecting an acceptable financial offer on the grounds that we wouldn't be able to use the funds to sign a replacement (until January), and so I could potentially see us losing Eriksen this summer with no one coming in to replace him, let alone strengthen the squad.
Nightmare scenario, right there.
In this instance the club would have to stick to a decision all the way through. Say that if a bid comes in after our deadline and we have no replacement be prepared to write off the money as a loss but ultimately make teams completely understand that this would be the case.
Does our window close later than the rest of Europe though? I thought that was only last summer.
