I think the 0 is to show that the batsman hasn't run byes or hit the ball to the boundary.

OK, but do you agree it makes no sense to on the one hand record on screen, every run being scored during that over, and not record a run scored if the batsman hasn't actually run the bye or hit the ball to the boundary?

Surely, a run scored is a run scored, regardless of how it's scored?

Awful start to the WC by South Africa. They looked aged, slow, and sloppy in the field today. Excellent result for Bangladesh, bit of a dangerous side.

I'd imagine they opted for WD because it's more important to show a wide has been bowled otherwise it could look as if seven balls had been bowled in that over.

...but they frequently show 7 or 8 balls having been bowled if extras have been awarded. Unfortunately, I can't contact SKY directly because they don't give you any means of doing so and asking questions of this nature.

I was watching the South Africa v Bangladesh match earlier and again, I noticed a leg bye been shown with a 1 over an LB, so what the f**k is the problem with showing a wide (WD) with a 1 over it...?

I just find the whole thing really weird. Sorry to drive you bonkers mate, I know you're doing your best!

But what happens if the batsman scores four off the wide ball? 4 over a 1 over WD would take up too much space and 4 over a 1 wouldn't display that the 1 is the result of a wide ball.

If you really want an answer I'd recommend contacting Sky Sports Cricket through Twitter.

The batsman cant score 4 runs off a wide ball...if he hits it then it's not a wide. I get @Spurslove point about this, even though it's small in the grand scheme of things. If it's a wide down the legside then it's one run, if there is a run taken by the batsmen (say the keeper fumbles it) then it's "2 wides", if goes to the boundary then it's "5 wides". It would seem logical to record it on the screen as "1 WD" in my view.

At one point looked like we might be chasing 380ish. Bowling/fielding wasn't great overall.

At Trent Bridge we have seen you can get any total, but pressure is on and will need a good start.
