Anyone know what Walker was whinging about after our goal was confirmed?

Probably that the ball went out or son was offside, even though both were fine. Think the ref was only checking for offside and not that the ball went out? Can't remember properly

I said we rarely concede more than 2 goals, but admittedly we aren’t doing as well as we were last season. We went on some ridiculous run where we scored in something like over 30 consecutive matches, a chunk of which was without Kane.

I’m not saying this tie isn’t in the balance, just that it’s a pretty decent outcome. It’s obviously a lot better than a draw or 2-1. I actually would have been happy with 0-0. To be in front with no away goal conceded is a great result.

I didn’t say it wasn’t. I said we may rue it as a missed opportunity, as we could and should have had more.

You said we rarely concede more than 2 (actually 7 times in last two seasons including against West Ham, Wolves and Leicester, not to mention oh yeah City twice) but we only need to concede 2 to be out. Why that arbitrary number of more than 2? Oh because we always score apparently. Except literally the last time we played City

Manchester City have also won their last 14 home games – and conceded just three goals while doing so.

I’m probably still thinking of the previous season, where our defence was much tighter. I still expect us to score in every game. The away goal rule really does make a big difference in games like this, as they have to score at least twice whilst knowing they can’t afford the risk of giving away a goal.

Them not scoring at the Lane is massive. I agree that we may rue those missed chances, but given how they were playing in the 2nd half I think we came out of it pretty well.

Comparing our squad to Cities and using that as an example as lack of squad depth lol.

Literally any other team in the world can say the same thing if you compare them to cities, when you're backed by an entire fucking country unfortunately you're gonna be able to have strong backups.

How is it they can still have Bernardo Silva unavailable but can still afford to have Kompany, Stones, Sane, De Bruyne and Jesus on the bench, no one can compete with that.

Actually I’m using the fact our bench options have been wafer thin for large parts of the season as an example of us lacking squad depth, but ok.

Care to elaborate?

Sorry for the delay. Had to check my DM because my avatar (the woman in the Spurs bikini) kept being flagged up for nudity (not by the mods, by Google).

I've used it for 7 years but no drama really. I've replaced the woman covered by a bikini, with an orangutan wearing no clothes whatsoever.

Fuck you Google :finger:

I don’t even care if it gets decisions right VAR ruins football

Wrong decisions are what spoil football to me so I welcomed VAR. But when VAR that was supposed to right wrongs seem to get it wrong, that seems worse. Anything that helps to get the right decisions is welcome by me as I am discontented when a game is decided by wrong decisions, even if I am backing the team the bad decision goes for. Some people my understand what I mean.

No, that’s what happens when you can’t sign players because your squad is packed with deadwood and three non-HG goalkeepers.

But yeah, injuries

Your condescending responses are so unbecoming Freeeki :D

What would our squad be like without injuries? We had Dier, Lamela and Aurier missing, the bench would have looked much better, don't you agree?

I’d say it would have looked better.

“Much better” is a reach and a half.

Yeah, I know. It's ridiculous. I got into a debate with a City fan cause I posted that article from last year that took an insight into the royal family and their human rights violations. His only response was "if it's even actually true". He knows deep down it is but he's trying to brush it off cause he can't face the fact his club are being bankrolled by blood money and each and every trophy they rack up is because of that said money.

I'm so glad Abramovich didn't buy us, I'm so glad we haven't had a Oil rich state take us - we're doing things the absolute natural and correct way to get where we need to be and the stadium is a monumental success.
The thing is the custodians of this country ie our Government are just as culpable for allowing this regime to do business here. They are quick to condemn other regimes for human rights violations but as UAE have money that can be beneficial to our economy, they get a free pass. They should not have been allowed to trade or own business like City here but as usual money talks.

Reminds me of the time when Ricky Martins lost a lot of his female followers after announcing that he was gay.

Does anyone know if we receive any prize money after winning that game or is it only awarded after the tie?

I think in recent games our defence looks tight once again giving me a lot more confidence in tight games. I just hope we have enough fit players to make sure we have the goal threat in the return leg
