Does that mean we'd rename:
  • the Skywalk as the Nike Air Step?
  • the craft beer to the Nike Aircraft Beer?
  • eat Jordan's Pie or Jordan's badly stuffed kebab?

Would it the club they'd be more looking to associate themselves with or the most up to date stare of the art sports arena in sport? Of course the team needs to do well, but how long before internationals the NFL and even a CL final is played there?
I might be wrong but I think I read somewhere in european fixtures the stadiums are not referred to by sponsor names, i.e not the etihad, but city of Manchester stadium

I’m still skeptical of whether Nike would make this kind of deal, but it does make sense for a number of reasons - PL base for them, NFL tie-up, possible esport and FIFA tournament base in London. Would be slightly hilarious if Keys did prove to be right.
Its largely the NFL thing IMO

Yes, but once the name sticks it'll still be refered to as that by media etc. Just like the Emirates is "Arsenal Stadium" on European nights but you'll only ever hear that once over the PA, everyone else will still call it the cavernous empty shithole Emirates.

From a poster on coys (might interest someone)

Not sure if this is of any interest to anyone but Hawk-Eye were working at the stadium on Mon, Tues and Weds - testing digital camera feeds, VAR and calibrating their goal line technology system.

A much lower league example of this was when Crawley's Broadfield Stadium was renamed the checkatrade.com Stadium. The sponsor name never stuck with fans and is now the People's Pension Stadium. To fans of an older age, or who grew up with the original name it will always and forever be the Broadfield.

The Nike Stadium isn't the worst name out there for a ground should it happen.

Don’t discount esports, man. It’s only getting bigger and bigger, and the events will be worth millions in years to come. Having a a bespoke venue is gonna be a real moneyspinner.
Oh I'm well aware of esports scope, I agree. Would a sports equipment company be involved much with that though? Even with a sports game. Sponsors of esports tend to be tech or food/drink brands, don't they?

Just think the profitability of each Prem club having their own esports FIFA club, having an esports Premier League too. Now with FIFA having the CL license, there is money to be made out of a European version if they so wish. Host it at venues like ours and it will be successful.
