The going rate. Yet we claimed we were not going to spend while the market was inflated. 30m is what was needed for Balde. I don't buy it. We've been fucking around since may because of prices and now we are going to spend 35m on a backup CB??

Who can genuinely push dier to up his game as wimmer clearly can't

Its this level of competition that will allow us to continue to compete

He is a class act, did no one watch the Europa League final? He was Ajax's stand out player for me almost anytime I saw them.

Would love this if true, but there's been a lot of interest in him from a lot of clubs.

Best compliment I can give him is that he reminds me of the King.

De Ligt was the standout player of Ajax by far. Sanchez looked imposing but with a very bad positioning. His pace allowed him to recover from his own errors

De Ligt with only 17 yrs old was so much better

De Ligt really did look quality from a composure and technical standpoint, but Sanchez' physical attributes do make him a standout with a ridiculously high ceiling.

I value composure, technique and defensive awareness more than physical attributes. It's what makes our CBs what they are today, in comparison to someone like Sakho that is physically imposing.
De Ligt is Toby, Sanchez is Sakho, at least from what I've seen from Ajax last season on the Europa league

For me..this signing would mean Toby isn't signing new deal and won't be around beyond another season. Sanchez is one of the top u21 center backs in the world

Or that poch wants 4 quality cb's to cover 3 positions. Dier might be needed in midfield aswell depending on injuries.

I don't think we'll keep playing with 3 at the back. It's also unlikely for us to get someone so highly rated to sit in the bench. I'd expect that from Real Madrid or PSG, not us

We have a lot of games this year do you expect all our cbs and wanyama to be available for all of them?
If he joins he will get games.

This guy is a bit like mix of Toby and Wanyama and his speed is essential for our high press. Passes like toby from the back and tackles like wanyama, his wages would also be within our range and the fee we can afford although its high. Defo upgrade on Wimmer imo not slagging Wimmer btw. .#...Get Barkley and Cancelo aswell and the TW will be looking positive!

JJetset said things should move on this week based on some positive news from last week. Could this have been related to Davinson Sanchez? Ajax lost to Nice last week and therefore have not qualified for the champions league.

As soon as we look like adding to the squad people begin crying about the role the guy might play. Hello, he covers two important spots. If we want to play 3 at the back we need at least 4 options to choose from.

Would be a very exciting signing and I see no reason as to why he would have to be back up originally and couldn't just go straight into a back 3 with Toby & Jan

I only watched one game of his and that was Europa league final. He certainly wasn't that good. He made many mistakes and was probably the worst player on the pitch in the first half.

On the other hand De Ligt was outstanding. Now if you get this boy in I think he'll play CB,DM maybe even do the FB role. Class player but very young.
