Before his errors, he saved us a few times and I was saying to myself that i'd name him MOM. Now it's got to be Wanyama.

The man earns us 15 points a season, after today we can cut that to a measly 13. Sell him.

Not even. He only would have cost us 2 points if we had been winning. We were 2 down and we did what we had to do. Had he saved those shots we don't know what would have happened. We might have won, we also might have lost 4 - 0.

Bit of a mare today but so what - the boy is the business.

Best ever keeper since I started supporting Spurs in '81 !

Didn't play well today but I won't dwell on it.

However his distribution has always been awful and Pochettino must adapt the way the team plays from the back against teams that will press from the front.

Lloris is a good keeper no question but him making mistakes vs the top teams in big games is a bad habit and he needs to improve his playing out from the back

Cat amongst the pigeons time..

Is Lloris mentality weak in big games? Does his distribution and our game suffer because of it?

Was the first goal actually an error by Lloris?

Firstly, he was criticised by the commentators for heading the ball instead of using his hands, yet the contact looked to be outside of the penalty area.

Secondly, he was first to the ball and his header would have been clear of Sane, had Sane not blocked it with his arm. It didn't look to be an intentional handball by Sane, but I never knew that's how the handball rule worked...I honestly don't think that goal should have stood.

My understanding is:
  • Accidental handball = freekick
  • Intentional handball = freekick + yellow card (red card if it prevents a goal-scoring opportunity)
  • Ball-to-hand = ball strikes the arm/hand from point-blank range and the arm is in a natural position (Sane had his arms sticking out at chest height!)
I would place the blame on the defenders, if anyone, for letting Sane through on goal.

Win as a team, draw as a team...

Incredible that the quality City displayed today they could still only score via two quite basic keeping errors.

I'd still rather have Lloris than any other keeper in the league bar none.

Lloris hates playing behind an unpredictable back line. Without Vertonghen marshaling the back line, it's not reliable and predictable enough for Lloris.

Maybe we should sign our own Bravo then :p

I'm not saying Lloris had a perfect game, but I think it's extremely unfair to blame the result on him, even if you believe him to be at fault for both games. We got away with a lot of team and individual errors in the first half (from our defence and midfield) that Lloris had no hand in...other than to bail us out with good saves for a couple for them.

Man City pressed us relentlessly, in the same way that we normally press our opponents. Our defenders often played like they had as much time as they did against West Brom or the majority of other teams this season. When the ball went back to Lloris, he was often under a lot more pressure, with less time and fewer options, resulting in us conceding possession. This is nothing to do with the magnitude of the game, but a lot to do with the fact that he was consistently put in difficult situations today. Our outfield players consistently played themselves into trouble, then expected Lloris to bail them out of it.

For the first goal, I don't consider that to be a Lloris error. The defence let Sane through (their error, not Lloris'). Lloris was first to the ball and had to use his head. He directed the ball past Sane, but Sane got a lucky break by accidentally blocking the ball with his arm. Which part of that was an error by Lloris?

For the second goal, it was a mistake by Lloris. However, it was a very awkward bounce and these things happen. I don't put it down to him being mentally weak. If the spill had fallen more kindly and a defender got it clear, I doubt anyone would even be talking about it.

You can't believe that? Lloris is a good keeper but he is nowhere near the best in the league

How is he "nowhere near it" I would say de Gea, Courtois possibly Cech could be argued to be the best in the league but Lloris is certainly among the best, I wouldn't swap him for anyone in our league. All keepers have a mare fro time to time.

Yep, I honestly wouldn't change Lloris for anybody in the Prem. 'Best in lge' is always subjective but Lloris ticks all the boxes we need for a gk in our setup and clearly gets on well with the squad & Poch (no surprise that he's our Captain)

Widen to World football I'd take Neuer but I'd take Lloris over any other GK in the prem (y)

To hear some people, its almost like people have forgotten the fantastic saves he made - in tonight's match. Yes, he made two errors that cost goals, but he also made some big saves to keep us in the match.

I hope he continues to make the odd "mistake" per season for the rest of his career as it might make the likes of Madrid and Barca think twice before going for him one day. For me he is as good as any keeper in the world 99.999% of the time and I could not say a bad word against him if I wanted too. For the style of keeper he is it's amazing how few goals he has cost us.

Not bothered about him being at fault for both goals today, that can happen. He is still a great shot stopper.

However his kicking is criminal, he is not cut out to be a ball playing Gk.
