Let's hope it's paper talk. If there is any truth to it though, I'd have to agree with you.

If City were stupid enough to have him on £175k pw and there are still 2 years left but they don't want him, i think if any of s were still in tha position we would dig our heels in a bit. i know the sums seem obscene to us but whoever you are you are not going to want to take the best part of a 50% pay cut. To my mind City should basically give him to us, saving themsevles £18m over the next 2 years and allow us to give him the fee, but keep the weekly wages within our structure

I disagree and don't wanna spam... but... you would be happy to get less wages in your new job than you're on now? you'd be a twat if so...
I know what you're saying Sum, but if it were me I'd take less money for a job I really wanted, but that's just me. That said, Ade's got a lot of people reliant on his wages, so it's understandable that he needs to earn as much as he can. The trouble is I don't think he's worth what he's paid by Citeh, but I might be wrong. I just get the impression that he's pissing about a bit. Who knows?

As A fan i'd play for free. Doesn't mean Ade should

Agree with the not worth £175k a week though.

I see what you're saying. Goods points and can't argue with 'em. ;) Digging his heels in may very well get everyone what they want, apart from Citeh of course; and I won't lose any sleep there...

His wage deal was a freak occurence. He was never paid that at Arsenal and if he had gone anywhere else he wouldn't have either. He should accept that he made hay while the sun shined and now he has to return to reality.

Before last season, I thought he was a mercenary little whatsit but was what we needed. I admit I was starting to warm to him but sounds like he never changed his spots. The fee was agreed a while ago now leaving Adebayor with a massive signing on bonus. It can only be wages and bonuses holding this up? I agree with TM

Read JJ's tweet in the other thread, apparently the fee is still yet to be agreed.

JJetset has said today that the fee isn't agreed. At work so can't paste the tweet.

I suppose the fact of the matter is that he earns what he earns. It doesn't matter what we think about that, he's got a contract that pays him shedloads of dosh and he wants what he's entitled to. It's just so bloody complicated where Ade's concerned. Yes, I think you're right there is a touch of the "mercenary" about him, but he does a lot of good with that money and that may explain it. He's obviously happy with us, but in two years time he's not going to get a contract for anything like the kind of money he earns at Citeh, so let's hope he makes the right decision to stay with us. I think he'd be short sighted to do otherwise.

AndyP made some good points. It's probably just brinkmanship to get the best deal.

If Cazorla is made available.. he'll be going to Chelsea won't he...
Along with Falcao, Hulk, Oscar, Cavani, Marin, Hazard, Torres, Mata, Mirales, Ramires, Lampard, Mikel, Malouda, Sturridge.
I know it's a squad game but i can see a lot of unrest at Chelsea next season.

Sorry i know it's not Spurs related! But i just get angry when i read 'chelski'

Might be fun to watch the clash of egos though...
