He may know more than me as far as La Liga goes, or what goes on behind the scenes. But he certainly doesn't have a clue on how Barca will line up if he thinks Messi will play in the middle most of this season.I think Balague knows more than you M. That said he is a bit of a name dropper, but he knows his stuff-just prefer Graham Hunter viz. La Liga on SS. The presenter is mildly annoying.
Different League. Although I agree we can play that way in certain games though. But in Spain, they don't have teams like Stoke. Even the lesser teams play along the ground, or play on the counter. In those type of games, especially away from home, we need the added height.I don't get why people think we need height in our team. Just keep the ball and break teams down. Barca isn't a big team by any means and they are probably the best in the world.

He was the best player in the world on the right. Villa has been one of the best La Liga strikers through the middle. Sure they'll switch roles at times, but there is no doubt in my mind as a Barca fan, as someone who watches every single match, that they will largely play in their best positions.
Not to mention that Pedro is as good as a left attacker as he is anywhere else. Also, Iniesta is better on the left than he is on the right (although much better in the middle), and even Adriano is better on the left than the right. So why play Villa there?
It would be like moving Bale to centre forward and Defoe to right wing.
Goals from strikers 2009-10
Chelsea 46
Man U 41
Arsenal 19 (or 29 if you count Arshavin as a striker)
Spurs 37
City 50
Liverpool 36
Ours are 'terrible'? I think not.
No Modric?
Gomes
Corluka....Dawson....King....Ekotto
Lennon....Huddlestone....Modric....Bale
VDV
Pav
Just change Dawson for Gallas and that looks brilliant
Forget your stats ss57,look at the four forwards we have if we all put them up for sale how many big clubs in the CL would want to buy them? With the expection of Pav probably none. Are four forwards are alright against midtable premiership clubs but at the top level they clearly don't cut it. We have spent the whole summer chasing Fabiano to play for us in the CL so i leave it to you to judge how good are four forwards are.
Look who's missed the point entirely.
Our strikers have been scoring 35-40 goals a season between them since 2004-2005. In my book, that makes them collectively pretty decent, not 'terrible'. We don't have a 'world class' striker (whatever that is),) but what we do have is four who are all capable of getting comfortably into double figures.
Fabiano was cup-tied for the CL.
Possibly a right back and a centre forward away from being a title winning team?
Centre forward, yes. Right back though? I can't imagine there is a right back better suited to linking up on the right wing anywhere near as well as Corluka does with Lennon. I don't think we can improve on Corluka for that reason.
