I was really excited for this before the arrests happened. The women's game has seen a massive upwards tick in stature and professionalism in the last 3-4 years, this world cup is unprecedented in scale and commitment, with private chefs, private jets and the biggest television coverage any women's tournament has ever had.
Then the arrests happened. Then Blatter was reelected. I'm all for a total boycott of Fifa, but to boycott the women's tournament at this fragile time in the game's development doesn't seem fair. The women have all been incredibly politically active in their lobbying of Fifa over a plethora of issues. They have been resolute, determined and united. They've shown more guts and courage than any male footballers in standing up for principle.
A boycott of this not only seems unfair, but it seems cruel, in my opinion. I'm really torn over this. What do you lot think?
