Winks injury update

Harry Winks has today (Monday 29 April) undergone groin surgery.

The England midfielder will be monitored by our medical staff as he continues his recovery before commencing rehabilitation.

They obviously had no choice. Hopefully doing it now means he'll have a pre season.

Thank god Dier is back to cover Winks and Wanyama to cover Sissoko. Hopefully they can stay fit for the rest of the season.
Even if Winks does return for the end of the season he wont get back sharp anyway. I hope he plays a part for England though, would be great for him.

Something was clearly up when MP came straight out that Winks was unawailable for tonight.

There's nothing a player wouldn't consider to get a chance of playing in the biggest games of their lives - who knows what Wanyama could have had done, as his sudden recovery has been remarkable.
But Winks is a young guy, and I hope he hasn't taken any shortcuts that will lead to long term problems.

I'd have been more concerned if it had been a recurrence of his ankle troubles. As it is, an operation in April and a couple of months recuperating on the beach, untroubled by international duties, sounds like a good outcome. :sneaky:
