When Tottenham agreed to loan Harry Winks to Sampdoria last summer, the hope was for him to play regularly with the Serie A side. The English midfielder wasn’t a part of Antonio Conte’s plans, and therefore needed minutes elsewhere, but an ankle injury killed off his first half of the campaign.
However, after recovering from surgery and returning to the pitch, the Tottenham man has become the big success story of Sampdoria’s poor season, as explained by Samp News 24.
They immediately stated Winks has been ‘the best signing of the season’ for the Italian club, but make it clear his future appears to be far from Genoa. That’s mostly because there’s no option to buy, but also because of the fact they are rock bottom of Serie A, 11 points from safety with just nine games to go.
