SPURS boss Mauricio Pochettino has put Colombian midfield enforcer Wilmar Barrios on his summer hit-list.

Poch wants a new defensive shield for his back four and plans to watch Boca Juniors star Barrios at the World Cup finals.

He has already been looking at Barrios, who plays in his native Argentina, and checked on him ahead of a potential £25million swoop.

Barrios, 24, has broken into the Colombia side and gone under the radar of most European clubs, joining Boca instead when he left his country two seasons ago.

The tough competitor can also play and would fit into Pochettino’s plans.

He would also help Davinson Sanchez, the 21-year-old Colombian centre-half Poch has put so much faith in.

Tim Vickery was just speaking about him on the radio. He's a big fan. He described him as an excellent holding midfielder in the Mascherano mold, perhaps not as safe in possession (although still good in this regard) but quicker across the ground.
