If Madrid and Ceballos only want the one-year loan option then we are out of the running. Looks like a case of trying to convince the player to leave Madrid permanently and he's not entirely certain of that. It also looks like it's the preference of Madrid.

I wonder if we will come on with an out-right bid to see if it entices Madrid to sell.

The dream world scenario in this tweet is Madrid don't want Eriksen thus he re-signs and we don't have a need for Ceballos (Lo Celso is coming in). We beat them to Saliba and Toby stays a year and leaves for a free next summer.

Really cant lose with Saliba, at very least made Arsenal get the same player for more money.

Ceballos loan is smart move from Arsenal tbh. Better sides eg us dont want to develop another teams players while ours are good, whereas for them improving immediate talent level is most important.

Depends how he turns out really though, doesn't it? If they beat us to signing him and he goes on to be a future star, it will be pretty lukewarm comfort to know that they had to pay a bit more than they otherwise would have done. I'd count that as a loss.

Still, not ruling out a positive outcome. He might sign for us and be good, or he might sign for them and not be.

10:08 ARSENAL CLOSE IN ON SALIBA

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Saint-Etienne for defender William Saliba, according to Sky sources.

The deal would see Saliba return on loan to the French club next season.

Tottenham are also in talks with Saint-Etienne, but have yet to make formal offer.

Saint-Etienne believed to be waiting for Spurs to bid before deciding on Saliba’s next destination in an attempt to push price up.

Saliba is thought to prefer a move to the Emirates.

There info seems 2 weeks old, Ornstein seems to be the one to trust on this.

Feel like they're going to push heavily for Ceballos and Saliba especially now. To back up their owner's nauseatingly bad statement. They know the fans won't forgive them if we pip them to any targets.

Neither deal has made any sense to me. A loan without a buy option and an expensive prospect with a loan back. It's been so widely reported I don't think it's rubbish but I never understood why we would go after either.

It is unusual that Sky didn't didn't even report on us making a bid back when all the French media broke that story

Yeah, maybe i'm being clouded by Bias but I'm choosing to stick with the Ornstein info. I must admit I do feel like the longer there is no news the better for us but got a horrible feeling that Arsenal will get him.

I’ve already gotten over the fact Arsenal are going to get both Saliba and Ceballos - just hope we get a move on with our other targets.
