We are making this move because toby and jan are both out of contract next summer. Toby might even leave this summer.

I think he’ll enjoy it but his head will always rule over any grudges. He’s not going to release funds for any other reason than business.

You can if you get a similar amount in one go from a release clause being paid.

Interesting as if Toby goes to Roma I can't see us signing another CB on top of Saliba. It might mean the plan is to drop Dier back.

I'm sure I read somewhere the other day that Toby's clause has to be paid within 3 instalments/Windows, which would indicate not.

Think it depends on location. Pretty sure in la liga it all has to be paid at once. Could be different elsewhere

Ultimately if we offered them enough (particularly up front) I'm sure it would be on our terms.

I'm not even convinced this is a goer, but it wouldn't make much sense for us to sign a CB for so much to loan back if we're cashing in on Toby.

Yeah as much as signing this guy from under Arsenal nose would be hilarious, once that all dies down, if Toby leaves we will still end up with a weaker defence than last season.

And our defending last season wasn’t exactly rock solid.

Here's a thought; I wonder if he's going to be our new right back?

In that video (above) he seems to be playing on the right in a few of those clips, including for France (presumably at U18 or U21 level).

He seems to be pretty quick and athletic.

Anyway, something to consider...

I pointed that out earlier in the thread but it didn’t get a response. Guess it’s cos nobody knows who he is (like me!)

If this is all true then I'd want him right away but to be honest if he is the future of our defence then loaning him back as an 18 year old is satisfactory, particularly if we slap a two year extension option at the end of his contract instead of the usual one year which I think is eminently fair.
