Will FFP finally put spurs where they belong?

Another impressive financial performance by the club , 8th highest on revenue not necessarily 8th richest. Stadium paying dividends on matchday revenue just compare it with some of our competitors.

I remember the days of Jol and we were finishing 5th behind Arsenal. Our turnover was £100m less than theirs. It seemed a huge task to close that gap. To see us now with a turnover of £100m more than them is an extraordinary turnaround. I know finances go deeper than that but it's a great piece of progress for the club.

The info I passed on was in October 2022 when it was one or the other. We are now in January 2024 so a considerable amount of time has passed and of course this may have changed to now be both clubs.
Saw something on the Twitterverse yesterday that basically made it sound like it was going to be one or the other and Nike/JB would go with whoever made European competition for next year so your info may not have changed.

It will take a few years to really challenge but the stadium will give us a giant leap into the top 10.

Match day revenue will be far higher than Liverpool and Chelsea and the stadium naming rights will be an immediate boost.

Unless we have a complete collapse in form then we should be able to grow our commercial income faster than rivals who have 5,10,15 years in the limelight and command commensurately bigger deals.

I predict we'll be top 7 within 5 years
My post from Jan 2018 ^^^^ (y)

Think we'd have made 7th with a stadium rights deal and without the collapse of form I caveated (the 4 pretty much lost years under the boring twins)

Matchday revenue will be down this year with the standard 19 PL matches and just 2 FA Cup matches at home plus one EFL away to Fulham.

In 23 years under the regime we've won 1 League Cup. I am at peace with not winning another trophy again in my lifetime (I'm 43) as Covid taught me to be grateful for being able to attend live football in the first place. Hopefully we get back into Europe in order to enjoy the away trips - any of the three tournaments will do for me.

Same here, age and thought process.

I just enjoy it game by game.

Perhaps ffp is working:

Newcastle, Tottenham & Bayern are interested in Jacob Ramsey.

Offers above £50m will be considered by Aston Villa who need to raise funds before the end of June to stay compliant with FFP.

what is most startling about the revenue figures is how can anyone believe that the man city numbers aren't inflated by bogus sponsorship deals.

We have a bigger stadium, sell it out every week, charge higher prices, have more legacy fans in the uk and around the world, were both in the champs league last season and they cant even sell out their home ground yet they make 200m more a year than us and more than the biggest club in english football by a distance in united? it really doesn't add up at all and it needs sorting asap to keep the league competitive. Otherwise they might as well call it the abu dhabi premier league.

5 years on and we must admit that we've signed a shit kit sponsorship deal with Nike. And the worst part is that it is 10 years left of the contract. 30m pund a year til 2033.

All the other 'big six' have at least 60m a year, and Arsenal are going to negotiate a new one since the one with Adidas in going out in 2024. Liverpool in 2026.

Not knowledgeable in any of this so could be wrong, but perhaps that's where the potential Jordan deal helps?

Pretty sure I read that our Nike deal is performance related. There's no way DL is signing up to a 15 year deal on a fixed fee.

Even that Nike deal is more than just a black and white deal.

I would imagine Levy would have done the maths and worked out what the club retaining their licences financially would mean and that it’s financially better to have a lower annual deal with licence retention.

i think that long nike deal had something to do with guaranteed future money to make the stadium viable, getting loans etc

I really hope so. We're talking about Levy here so I guess we are in just as good shape as the other clubs.
Would love to see some numbers though and if the other clubs have some license retention as well.
