I might be late to the party on this but I just saw that alasdair gold has said we are also looking at Traore and Dan james. The two shittest wingers in the league. Zaha is head and shoulders above those two but fuck me, what are we doing looking at that level of dross?

I'd love it. Such an underrated player who could play anywhere across the front three and join in the shithousing.

Picture of me after we sign Zaha following the 1000th rumor.

Sarr going there on loan as a sweetener. Help integrate him into the premier league whilst being coached by (much I hate to say it) one of the best midfielders of their generation who also has Senegalese heritage

Maybe we could do a deal with Moura included? That way it makes more sense for both parties
That would help with homegrown quota too, but I think we’d still need a left footed attacker as well. If we had the money for both Zaha AND Zaniolo AND a top centre half, I’d sell Lucas. Zaha is also 29 years old so not much succession planning there.

I'm not being facetious, in principle I do agree with you - it’s just a massive ask at this stage of the window, IMO.

I mean I'm well against Traore after being in favour of him under Nuno but Dan James really takes the piss :ROFLMAO:

I like the Zaha link but because he's linked every bloody year with nothing happening, it's hard for me to see it coming off. The good thing is that with Zaha or someone similar as well as Richarlison, you'd think we should always be able to field a formidable front line, injuries or not. Such an improvement from Bergwijn and Lucas, in all respect.

To be fair to him, he's probably in the form of his career atm. Really good numbers. Can't argue that he'd be a great option, and I'd rather him over the likes of Gordon or Traore that's for sure.

Just wonder what Poch would be thinking if we do sign him. Remember we were linked to him every summer for like 3 or 4 years under him.

With Ally Gold linking us to Traore, Saint-Maximin, and Gordon it does indeed appear that we are in for a pacey dribbler type.

If that’s the profile of the type of player we’re chasing then I’m all for Zaha. Homegrown, knows the league, older with only a year left on his contract so should come for a reasonable fee, currently in blinding form.

It would still leave other areas of need in the squad to address (creative midfielder and CB), but if Conte feels he needs a player of this type then I’m all for Zaha.

And he mentioned Dan James. Agree, these players at least make more sense as an alternative to Zaniolo (from a skill set perspective). Zaha would be the best choice out of those names but personally I’d just prefer someone who’s primary position is RW. It is interesting how Paqueta’s name has completely disappeared after it was rumoured (and mentioned by ITK) he was possible second choice at one point.

It certainly seems a creative midfield isn’t actually what we are looking for which is a shame but not overly surprising at this point because of our obsession with Zaniolo over recent weeks.

Malinovskyi > Zaha > ASM > the rest, for me.

Imagine all the free kicks we would win with Richarlison and Zaha.
Now imagine how many free kicks Kane will smash into the wall.

One of the best players outside of the top 6, works much harder than he's given credit for off the ball (both pressing and tracking back), different skillset to the other attackers as he's a very skillful and talented dribbler always looking to commit defenders which scares the hell out of them and wins penalties because of it, has been Palace's talisman for years almost single handedly winning games at times despite being their targeted player with 2 or 3 players on him all game (no such thing as too many match winners in a squad) and is homegrown. He's versatile as he has played more in the striker/forward role last season and did well from the limited times I saw him, he's okay off the right but definitely much better on the left when playing wide. Not to mention he boils the blood of opposing fans, imagine Romero, Richarlison and Zaha getting away with murder and winning the game with an extra time penalty because of a foul on Zaha after he skins someone. The foaming at the mouth alone would make it worth it

As for negatives he is 29 and turning 30 in a couple of months which isn't ideal but he'll be good for a few more seasons at worst and with 1 year left he hopefully wouldn't be ridiculously priced, but if you're Palace you're not letting your talisman go for cheap even if he goes free in a year. He also has competition with Son, Rich and Kane in his 2 best positions which is difficult to justify spending a lot of money on but it'd be a massive statement. I've been a big proponent of his for years and am convinced he'll quickly become a fan favourite if he does join, he'd be a modern Ginola
