People are aware the plan is to try and close down City right? I mean I assume that’s ultimately what we have to do, want to do?

And people actually think we are going to achieve this with the likes of Zaha, Traore, Dan James. This shouldn’t even be a discussion, none of them are good enough, they are not even close to good enough, as 6th choice, 7th choice, back ups whatever.

Putting Zaha in the same bracket as Traore and Dan James is the funniest and most ignorant thing I’ve ever read on here. Zaha is one of the best forwards in the league whilst the latter two are literally shit.

CBA to get into a full-blown argument as I don't care that much, but ludicrous to compare Zaha to Traore and Dan James, he's about 10 levels above them.

Zaha is far from one of the best forwards in the league.

I don't even like Zaha - but this is correct.

Zaha shows ambition.

Traore and James show we are just throwing things against the wall and hoping they stick.

Bit disrespectful of Zaha. He is a much better player than Traore and James

Not sure why you're putting Zaha in that bracket. The guy has done the business against some big teams

None of them are good enough regardless of what bracket they are in, we are not moving up the league from 4th to compete even higher up the ladder with any of those players.

Zaha is far from one of the best forwards in the league.
2020-2021 - 11 goals
2021-2022 - 15 goals
2022-2023 - 4 goals in 5 games

This would suggest he is one of the better forwards in the league and you’ll certainly do well to find a better 5th choice forward out there.
Not that it matters, he ain’t moving this window.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Zaha is very very good. Brilliant 1v1, ferocious ball striker on his right foot, rapid, very powerful and excellent combining in tight spaces. He’s got the third most prem goals in 2022 whilst playing for Palace. Without doubt one of the best forwards in the league and would add a different profile and quality quality depth to our attacking options.

I would like to add, he is not my first choice to bring in. I'm not too concerned with the forward positions for this season. But we do need another attacking midfielder. If we were to sell Lucas (love him but I think he needs to go now) he would need replacing for another good forward option (Zaha possibly) and we do need another defender to compete with Dier

I agree Zaha is a great option but I mean when has a team often spunked 50-60m in a few for a player turning 30 and made out?

I also don't get the flack about the cash injection? Without Romero we've spent about 115m with it what 160? That's that spent right there.

I think if the right player was available and deal doesn't end in us getting f'd then we go for it.

I understand frustration but it's easy to see Roma want us to spend above and beyond for Zaniolo, which most of us wouldn't a month ago. Therefore we're looking for stopgap loans to see if they impress and earn their spot like many of you want and if not we wait til who we want is feasible.

Goals and our forward players are not even close to where our problems lie. But what the hell let’s just piss money away on that position.

That's not what you're arguing though, you're saying he's not a good player when he clearly is.

Tbf mate, if that’s your issue, maybe argue that issue and not a completely different one.

Never said I wanted him, never said it should be a priority.

You grouped him with far worse players and said we can’t progress with him. That’s what I argued against.

Watching tonight do people really think Zaha is what we need? We need someone with a bit of style, accurate passing and getting his head up….. in the middle of the park!
Really we need both.
Quality touch, vision and passing in midfield.
And another goal scoring threat up front.

Our bench tonight had 8 defence first substitutes! Only Richarlison could come on to change the game offensively.

With Zaha scoring most of his goals when given space against better sides in the league, he could be the perfect difference maker for us in tight fixtures.

I said none of them are good enough, someone else mentioned brackets of who is better than whoever else. I don’t really care about bracketing them. We have to try and kick on from 4th, City look like they are on another planet with Haaland. To catch Pool and City we are going to have to go out and add some real quality. It already looks like an impossible

Not these players who will just clog up the books, regardless of Zaha being better than James and Traore, brilliant still doesn’t fix anything. They just are not good enough for the reality of the difficulty of the next step. All these type of players are just bang average types that we haven’t done well with in the past.

At the beginning of the window no one would have wanted these players. I like what we have done so far in the market but these type of signing look poor, rather keep the money and bide our time and put it toward true difference makers on 5th choice this and that.
