Willian plays on the right so he wouldnt be competing with him. He would with Pedro but he has become a utility player of sorts. Also Willian is 29 and Pedro is 30, beyond those two (excluding Hazard) the only other wing option they have is Lucas Piazon (who will no doubt go out on loan again). They are in dier need for more wing options especially as Sarri plays a very intensive 433. We have far more attacking midfield/ wing forward options then Chelsea and i don't see Zaha going straight into our starting 11 where as i can see that happening at Chelsea. Even if Hazard stays, which i very much doubt, they are still in desperate need. I just dont see how our need is the same as theirs no matter how much we might like to sign him.

Depends if the new midfield shape deployed vs Roma becomes the norm. Eriksen played CM alongside Sissoko with Amos as the anchor in behind (think England/City MF shape). Put Dele in the Sissoko role and suddenly you have three players (Son/Lamela/Moura) for 2 attacking roles.

Really those 4 plus Kane alternating through 3 spots. 5 for 3 spots is a good number. Although I'm still reserved in my excitement of Dele being a full time CM. The top looks great, I just would still have questions about the middle of the field.

I think he'd be a lot more effective there with Eriksen as a foil rather than Jesse Lingard, but I agree we'd need another midfield option with a view to push Dele forward in certain games.

It's been reported that United have a sell-on clause for Zaha. I do wonder if that is still active, and if so, how large it is (this is certainly part of why he is so expensive). Is it possible that we are trying to get around it with involving players, as well (like we did with Vorm)?
That makes sense. 25% is often the standard. It did strike me as odd that United were almost giving him back to Palace for peanuts.

Don't disagree he's just going to need to more the ball a whole lot quicker if he is going to be effective in that role. I think he has the talent to do it, its just all about how quickly he can process the game in the middle of the pitch.

Also, if Zaha goes to Chelsea you'd have to assume that Hazard is off which weakens them quite considerably.

Its impossible to judge what Poch has in mind ATM, it did seem like he was going 433, but then again, Lamela was mostly playing as a 10 behind Llorente with Eriksen drifting around the LCM. it was an odd formation, although very fluid which worked in an attacking sense. I would have question marks over Eriksne and Alli playing in a middle 3. In order for that to work you need one of your CM's to be a DMF, another a DLP and a third B2B. I dont see Alli being able to play B2B. Anyway, i wasn't saying we should not buy a WF, i was just saying Zaha may feel like he would have more guarantied play time at Chelsea then he would here which may sway his decision.

Trying to be neutral, and think who would I choose but I'm struggling as I f'ing hate chelsea!

US
CL
Better training ground
Better stadium
Consistency with manager, staff and players

Them
More recent trophies success
Potentially a decent manager
They didn't piss him off before with a shite salary offer

Salaries, maybe they will pay more but we've raised our ceiling these days.
Let's face it, we might offer £150k a week, Chelsea will offer at least £200k. Players don't often think too much further than that. The stadium and training ground will probably register zero, although those are often factors cited by players after they sign for a club. Surprisingly they never say: "Club offered me £250k a week, well above anyone else. You'd be a mug to turn that down."

At one point last year Lukaku to Chelsea was at 1/10 and him to join United was as high as 25/1 and the inverse was true of Morata. Things change very quickly and in Chelsea's case, similar to ManU, they have fanbases large enough to tilt odds completely on a dime with no more knowledge than the rest of us, just blind expectation that everyone wants to play for them.

I think that means that all the Spurs fans are betting on Chelsea!

I wouldn't doubt it was so low because companies like ladbrokes are thinking like we are - "NO WAY LEVY PAYS 70 MILLION!!!"

One interesting thing about bringing in Zaha would be that basically all of our attacking players minus Dele would all be the same age. Would be a lot of cash to replace that bunch coming up in a few years.

Kane, Eriksen, Lucas, Lamela, Son & Zaha all 25/26.

I agree with that - but on the flip side he'd back himself to get a start, especially if Poch loves him and we're paying a huge fee.
