What about Gyan of Ghana?

Seemed to play the lone striker role well and seems handful!!!

There was a rumour linking us to him.

Concensus was that the source was unreliable, and that he would be a real risk, if feasible at all.

I would see Gyan as a backup to Defoe so would still want a partner for him.

I'd be kind of sick if he went to West Ham. That's a bid we should hijack as he won't be that expensive at 32 and is pretty much surplus to requirements at Bayern. He's a great, experienced player with a couple good years left and could be a wonderful "bridge" signing for us.

klose has seen his best days, if he was the club player that he is for internationals he would be playing for barca or real.

he'd be a great acquisition for sure - doubt if he'll leave germany for either west ham or spurs tho - but would love to see him at the Lane

Mario Gomez or R Lukaku as main ST and S Jovetic as the link man
who can also play in C/M L/M and as a second ST

Like this a lot, but we have yet to be linked properly with either, which suprises me.

I admit there aren't many about at the highest level now. But the few that stand out for me over the years are Nistelrooy and Inzaghi. They don't offer much to overall build up, but they come to life in and around the box. They'd both score goals for fun with us (in their prime).

My biggest gripe with Defoe is that he isn't the most intelligent striker. A more intelligent version of Defoe would be good in any generation of football. Although ideally a younger version of Klose who can pull players about the pitch aswell.

That type of player would be ideal IMO.

I had this conversation with 'Stophe a couple of weeks ago, but we couldn't agree that Berbatov was a number 9 or whether he played as a number 10 coming deep and creating things for others. He wasn't ever really operating as a number 9 for us at all, winning balls in the air, using his strength to hold off defenders etc. He is pretty much a 9.5.

I would suggest we need two strikers really and if we could find another 9.5 from somewhere that would be great. If you combined that with a Forlan type '10 and out finisher', because he is an out and out finisher at club level but he has so much ability and can link things up great at international level (although I suspect with Suarez out he may push up higher). He is maybe a different sort of 9.5 as well.

So I would say a Berbesque 9.5, let's call it 9.25 since he is the taller of the two and a Forlanesque 9.5, which we can call a 9.75. The combination of the two combined with working on the type of attacking movement that you see in the Germany team could see 9.75 + 9.25 = lots of goals.

Maybe I am going a bit nuts with all of the numbers I am looking at for work today.

IOMLS I think you've gone a bit number crazy....take a break mate....but seriously I see what you are saying here and it makes sense, also agree we need 2 strikers.

I've chosen a number 10 and an out and out striker. I've also decided I want Forlan and Lukaku to fill both roles (which will probably change again next week )

I would like to see someone who can keep up with the goals Defoe scores and form a good partnerhsip with him. Someone like Forlan has the intelligence to work with Defoe. Plus he scores goals for fun.

I also think we need an alternative to Defoe. He always dips in form, and sadly the same can be said of Pav. So replace him with someone who will keep Defoe on his toes. Lukaku is a different type of player, but someone who can play right up top.

I think that Forlan could be the key to this as I can see a few players who would work very well with him, I love the idea of Lukaku or Gomez but also think Defoe would score more alongside him than any of our current crop, and although I'm not his biggest fan also think that .....

younger version of Diego Milito

Dzeko would be ideal but if Citeh are after him we will have to jog on

Huntelaar's stock and therefore his price has dropped , still a class act and Arry could bring out the best in him

Could work well with him and as stated above Harry could do a job with him.

to be honest I'd be quite happy if we signed Raul from Madrid and Connor Wickham from Ipswich.
I'm not so sure if we can sign the top scoring striker a lot of people want, and I really don't want an average player (ie Carlton Cole)
Raul could give us the experience we are looking for and the England games I have seen of Wickham he looks a very exciting prospect who could potentially burst onto the scene (ala Owen or Rooney)

I'd like to see D.L. make an offer for Zlatan. Barca needs the money apparently to help pay their overdue wage bill and as he really doesn't fit into the scheme of things at the Camp Nou we just might be able to get him at an acceptable price.
He has the lot, tall, powerful, skillfull, good header, intelligent, great lay offs with both feet and head and I'm sure 'Arry has enough in him to motivate the man into doing wonders for us.

- He currently earns over £150k a week, our top earner is somewhere near £75k.
- He cost Barca close to £60m, our top signing is £16.5m
- In a league game last season, according to OPTA, he only ran 500m more than their keeper Valdes.

I hate the guy but we do need someone like Drogba. A forward with pace and power who can bully defenders is what we lack.

The strikers we need to look at

Benzema,
Hunttlear
Eto'o,
Agbonlahor,
Babel,
Cavani, Uaraguay
F Llorente of spain thought he looked ok
K Jones, Harry knows him and with better players has all the assests.
Piquionne of Pompy, laugh! but I reckon theirs a good player in him thought he caused us all sorts of problems at Wembley with pace, strengh.
Nikola Kalinic of Blackburn another player I reckon is a talent.

This. And:
He would have to be amenable to the move =

Really...and please don't rant your knowledge of World football at me folks, but I tihnk Huntelaar is about the level we should be aiming at, and would probably do well to get. More suited to the English game,so don't judge him to harshly, and something there for Aitch to get the 'best' out of.
