we all knew how great a player modric is, his loss is still an evident gaping hole in the team. we won't sign anyone in the near future who can, straight off the bat, emulate modric in that position.

Fortunately, we no longer need to. Our midfield is almost world class, and little tommy Carroll will grow into a worthy Modric replacement in time.

Amount of bin dippers calling Coutinho world class after the friendly today is embarassing. He's a quality prospect but my word.

Boy was I impressed with him in the game yesterday, but unlike the scousers, I'm not going to declare him world class until he delivers at the top level consistently...

The following is a collection of today's dumbest comments from Sky Sports, be warned that these people are utter morons who don't know a thing about football apart from what they hear in the mainstream news. Don't let them upset you, just point and laugh.

Good one, you can't see us doing anything without Bale so we should sell him? :playful:

Yeah amazing...

:sick::facepalm::inpain::poop:

Oh dear :joyful:

And there you go! These people should be locked up and studied so that we can find a way to ensure that nobody else will ever be born with such a low capacity for intellect.

My general feeling towards people who talk about us...

Tom Carroll will NEVER be a modric replacement

Whilst it's very likely that he won't, to say 'never' is exceptionally premature at this stage. The boy's got a field of vision as good as anyone in our squad and when he's on form doesn't really give the ball away either. He can pass with both feet, and keeps the game really simple, always looking for the forward pass. I wouldn't really compare him to Modric since he doesn't have that ability to drop his shoulder and glide past players like Modric could. If he's going to emulate any great midfielders, I'd liken him to Paul Scholes the most (just without the shooting ability)

He's got as much chance of becoming a top midfielder as that shit Wilshire.

I really like little Tommy and think he just needs games, but as much as it hurts, Wilshere has the potential to be top notch IMO. Admittedly, he has missed a lot of important development time and also when he was at his best he was playing in a side that contained quality players that played to his strengths, but he is still a very talented lad.

Tommy has a lot of talent though and I really want to see him given a chance.

I wonder what planet some people are on at times,

Tommy Carroll can barely get a game for Spurs, whilst Jack Wilshere is on the verge of captaining England long-term.

I didn't say he was world class - I said our midfield (meaning Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho) is on the verge of being a world class midfield.

I also said that in time I think Carroll will grow into a worthy Modric replacement and since he's already an excellent player at the age of 19, I will happily keep repeating it. He has all the skills necessary and he does have the drop of the shoulder and quick movement to skip past a man - he's done it many times.

The more this boy plays the better he will get. I just hope it's for us and he's not wasted on pointless loans.
