So about 3-5 players a piece then. I would say Bentancur, Maddison, VDV, Perisic are higher quality overall vs Pope, Burns, Botman, Willock and Tonali.

I don’t think Newcastle has any injury handicaps vs us, at best it’s about the same and quality wise our handicap maybe slightly higher. Do Newcastle even have any players of Maddison or Bentancur quality?
I think that's pretty much a subjective decision, but based on last seasons league positions you'd certainly think so.

It not about the comparison of quality between the sides, it's what they mean to their side. They miss Pope, Burn and Tonali, just as much as we miss Maddison and VDV. We have the stronger depth and that shows with the benches yesterday, as well as our players slowly coming back before theirs.

I think any team would miss having the rugby tackling rent-a-thug Dan Burn in their team who seemingly gets away with it week after week.

I for one was glad he wasn't playing...just to keep our injury list where it was.

I count 4 for them, maybe even 5 - Pope, Botman, Burn, Willock, Tonali. You could argue only one of Willock and Tonali would start though. Pope is a tough one for them to take, and I think the drop in quality to Dubravka showed yesterday.

In comparison I'd say VdV, Maddison and Bentancur would be starters from our pool of injuries, while you could make a case for either Perisic or Solomon starting as well.
I did a Stuart Pearce and forgot the keeper, but it’s still only 4. They aren’t picking Wilcock and Tonali in their first XI

Sorry but I don’t agree at all. Our first team is hit harder but their depth is. Pope could be a big miss in close games but he wouldn’t have stopped them getting stuffed yesterday. It’s arguable whether Tonali even makes their first XI, he certainly isn’t comparable to Maddison as a hub. And Dan Burn is a decent enough left back but again isn’t as pivotal to his team’s defence as VDV is to ours. Botman is a big miss for them, but he’s the only one on the level of our 3 in relative importance

Newcastle Online
  • Howay United, fuck them up
    :headbang:
  • If we make Richarlison look good today then we are more knackered than I thought even.
  • FFS... should be 1-0 to us.
  • Son is a horrible whingey fucker
  • We'll win this
  • Would be nice of Spurs to let us have the ball for a bit. Just to test the water a little
  • Been coming that. We've been fucking shite.
  • Feel shit, just want last season back
  • Coming that. Trippier on toast by Son
  • Could get murdered here if Spurs fancy it tbh.
  • We need to keep this to 1-0.
  • This could get ugly
  • That one touch pass round the corner is knackering our entire shape off the ball every single time.
  • Cutting through us with ease. Far too many of our players are just not up for the intensity required here today
  • Cook up a dodgy £25m move for Almiron to Saudi in Jan imo
  • Trippier AGAIN for fucks sake.
    This is fucking shite.
  • Richarlison, who hasn't scored in 19 starts. Always fucking us
  • Fucking wank
  • Abysmal
  • Son has Trippier on toast. Can’t believe we let him score
  • Can see a ruddy hammering
  • Son is killing Trippier
  • Wonder how many will they get
  • Trips will be having nightmares aboot Son the neet.
  • No wonder teams get at Spurs, another team would have punished them today, however good they've been going forward.
  • It's all them
  • Son has Trippier on rollerskates
  • Can't argue with this, scoreline is about right
  • They're doing to us, what we do at home to teams
  • Looks like Spurs made an active decision to target Trippier, and it's paying dividends.
  • Worst thing about this is the spurs wankathon will be back on, they have 3 players out and it’s a crisis ffs. We have an entire team out until we can’t make subs and the media doesn’t make half a fuss.
  • This is gonna be 5 nil
  • It should be 6-2 already
  • This is going to be a pumping. Blaa the whistle now
  • Neville is such a backward ****. We have 11 players out injured and one banned for 10 month, the problem isn’t that ‘we aren’t used to it’.
  • Romero and Porro were destroyed by is at home and they look world class today
  • Not sure I want to even watch the second half tbh
    :(

  • They are on the ball
  • Spurs are much better than us in working the ball through to dangerous areas, and look very strong in winning the 50-50 balls. I'm just hoping it doesn't become a hammering.
The minute Son had Trippier on a 1 v 1, I knew he'd get past. They've got some good players.
  • Great to see a nice balanced Sky panel - Michael Dawson and Jamie Redknapp. Surprised they don't just go the whole hog and have Darren Anderton and Alan Sugar doing the commentary.
  • Spurs don't even bother defending, have a fucking go at them!
They also clearly can't last much beyond an hour as they're all so knackered from all that Bielsa-esque running around.
  • Disgusting goal to concede
  • Reckon this could be 5 or 6 by the time it's done
  • Stop! Stop! We’re already dead…
  • Put “Sonny” in hospital please
  • Could be 8 and we couldn't complain
  • 1 more and I'm taking the dog out.
  • I don't think I've turned a match off since Howe took over but today I can't be arsed with it and went and done the dishes instead.
  • What a **** Romero is. Hope he's locked in his house with 50 rabid XL bullies.
  • Fucking Romero... dirty bastard.
  • That's not just a red, that's a fucking ban
  • What is the point of VAR? Most blatant red you’ll ever see
  • Cracking pen.
  • Fuck off Son, you cheating prick
  • Commentators going completely OTT re Spurs here
  • Son is detestable

  • none of that
  • No need for racism man. Fucking hell.
  • Racist ****.
  • A bit of casual racism to end the day. Sweet
  • This should have been 7-0. Atrocious all round
10 more pages here

  • What a **** Romero is. Hope he's locked in his house with 50 rabid XL bullies.
Personally I wouldn't fancy the 50 XL Bullies chances

They have had CL games too, if we had had that to deal with as well with our injury and suspension crisis we'd be running on fumes.

I do think they've had just as bad an injury crisis as we have had if not very slightly worse but they're suffering even more because they're also playing CL and we are not. I wouldn't say our depth is that much better, if we had CL games as well we'd have even more injuries and our bench would've looked more like theirs.

Either way glad we won and love seeing them and other fans salty bitterness.

No, it was in the Let's All Laugh at Tottenham thread. It was posted after the West Ham game.

Full conversation was this

Really on the media their whole situation, been gassed up by pundits so many times they started to believe the horseshit written about them. They're no different to Villa, West Ham or Everton, smaller fanbase even yet they think they're big boys because of a couple also ran placements.
"Waaah waaah waaah. Our clubs bigger than you're club"

"You're so deluded because you think you are on our level. When we are on the level of man utd, Liverpool"***

*** Disclaimer, surely Arsenal aren't on the same level, since we are closer to them, then they are to utd, Liverpool. (Purely based on trophies). Not that it really matters, it's a bit of a school yard mentality.

Still nice to hear Neville and Carragher saying they love coming to watch us. Neutrals and fans new to the league will no doubt also be switching on to watch us purely because of those endorsements. Not exactly a bad thing.

Must always include Bentancur when mentioning VdV and Maddison missing

It reminds me of the Keegan era Newcastle. If they were on the telly I would always sop and watch.
