I appreciate it is funny watching them struggle but.. this is the what opposition fans are saying about US thread.

You have to read it like this - Chelsea fans think they’re shit, which implies that they think we’re doing better than them. They wish they had Ange instead of Poch. Pricks

As a petty and bitter person I’ve always treated this thread as a place to laugh at the misfortune of any random club fans sometimes about us but other times not. But you’re right, on second thought, it should've gone in the laugh at Chelsea thread. Still, better than the Xg chat.

With the international break coming up, there's probably not much chat around now but in my opinion, reading Chelsea (any rival fan but Chelsea especially!) crying about how shit they are, is a shed load better than page upon page of x-fucking-g chat.

Us being “figured out” will ultimately be teams realising that our midfield is better than 80% of the rest of the league. They’re currently foolishly going toe to toe with us with the intention of going after our weak defence, but our superior midfield is then going to work.
Fully expect teams to eventually to start to set up with 2 banks of 4 just outside their 18 yard box with the intention to catch us on the counter.

It's a good point about Maddison tbh. I'm not sure Lo Celso can fill his shoes, and I'm not convinced Levy will bring in a proper challenger for the role when we get back in Europe. It's definitely a worry.
Anyone who is proper "challenging" Maddison for his role would essentially be a starter.

Lo Celso is about the top of what you'd expect a "backup" to be.

Not really a good way of looking at it. Bale was a better player than Kane yet didn’t have the same goal return.

But for me personally, if we win something (League or FA Cup) with Sonny as captain, he would be the best player I’ve seen for us, not just because of his ability to smash them in from anywhere but because of his personality and camaraderie with teammates. Its not just about goal return.
Exactly this, for me up until Son my favourite players in a Spurs shirt from a wee lad was Ginola and then King: the pattern in my subconscious being associated with cup wins.

Maybe not opposition fans but I’m absolutely loving pundits and media etc just simply saying how good we are and what nice football we play so other fans must be thinking and saying the same.

Lots of ups and downs to come but incredible how quickly the perception of us has changed 4 games in!

Also personally like how other fans are now actually saying things like we look better without Kane and don’t rely on him anymore etc, we are actually seen as a TEAM again instead of a boring average one man show.

Some nourishment for the soul (The Shed End)

“Probably the most embarrassing project in world football.

£1b spent to completely change an entire squad, a squad which had won the champions league and finished 3rd within the last 12 months, and they have bought a load of kids that maybe can get us challenging again in about 5 years.

If you complain then your ungrateful.

Anyway we are stuck with this now, so bearing in mind this is a youth team, with 5 or 6 seniors, then I think expectations need to be seriously lowered.

Team was wrong, as it has been for 3 games, awful start for Pochettino. Not really sure how he wants us to play.

So much to be pissed off about with chelsea at the moment.

With the squad we have, I'm expecting a rough couple of years while these players grow. Hopefully not too much damage is done in the meantime.”

Another happy customer. Yes, we are laughing by the way

“It will take time my arse!! This team is going no place except the bottom 5. Pochettino is all talk but same as Potter plays cowardly football he was found out at PSG There is no Harry Kane or Mbappe to bail him out at the bridge. Biggest problem for us is the total waste of money spent on at best mid table players other teams are laughing at the prices we have paid.

It would be sad if this person lost the will to watch Chelsea after 40 years seeing as we’re all having so much fun

“All of them were poor. Can't give anyone any sort of praise - that is one of the most passive abysmal performances I have seen. Just when we think we've hit our low, we find new depths.

I thought Poch would be brave enough to bring positivity to Chelsea, but this insistence on playing 8-9 defensive players is beyond exhausting.

Our attacking play - there are no words for how slow, sideways, and ineffective it is. We snatch at shots, mish*t crosses, misplace forward passes, and any time we get in behind we just stop and go back.

We are the easiest team to play against in the Premier League. Week in week out we see the same stuff. I'm honestly losing the will to watch this after 40+ years.”

The first comment nails it. 😂😂😂

My mates a Chelsea season ticket holder (yeah I know - I need new mates etc etc)

He refuses to acknowledge the season has started for them and thinks we're still in the New Manager bounce stage...

...someone make it make sense!

Yeah like in 5 games everybody will just say "ahh that's how they play" and we will lose all games cause they just figured us out. Why nobody do that against other teams? If we hire enough people to figure out all teams in the league we will be champions. Oh no wait, if we figure out Arsenal and they figure out us who will win???

Appreciate this is a bit of a tongue in cheek comment, but this is what is going on right now to be fair. The example of Arsenal is good as they did indeed catch a lot of teams out early on last year so sides were naturally then sitting off them to try to counter their all out attack which in turn gave Arsenal the freedom to express themselves. It wasn’t until teams started to have a go back at them towards the end of the season that Arsenal really started to consistently drop some points. We’re currently in our honeymoon phase of the figuring out process where the idea of having a go back at us has resulted in 10 points for Spurs. Hence why it feels like the natural next step in the evolution of how teams set up against us will be the all out defensive approach to try to stop us scoring as often as we are right now. I’m not saying that is how you stop us, but tactics will certainly be changed as the current system being deployed against us is clearly not working for the other teams.

Reminds me of those few decades when at the end of every season Liverpool fans would announce themselves champions of their own table with shots hitting the post counting as goals! Fucking hipster drivel is what it is!

We won't really ever find out. If Kane and Son swapped positions, would Kane replace the 20+goal/assist contributions from our wide, and would Son still get 20+ goals through the middle?

What we do know is, Kane is better playing any kind of football. Son isn't a defensive system player. But most strikers will still score goals in any system
Son has explosive form under both Conte and Mourinho. It was only last year when injured that he didn't perform. Class players can perform in any system. Kane is the case in point. Remarkable player.

Just because you don't get or don't like xG in whatever form, doesn't mean its pointless.

I think most people that "hate" it is simply because they're too lazy to understand it, i'm also sick to death of the xG talk, but atleast I bothered to understand the data.

Look, if you don't like it that's fine, even if you understand how it works and still don't like it that's also fine.

Most people don't bother going into tables like above and study it to death because at that point, it's absolutely pointless.

However, the only thing I take a quick glance at if I wasn't able to watch a full match is the xG, but before that I also look at shots, shots on target. Most people that look at xG just take it as a quick glance to get an idea of which team had the better chances in a match they missed.

For example Chelsea had about a million shots at the weekend but most were from range and not good chances, xG will quickly tell you roughly that.

Not everyone that looks at xG is a weirdo on a computer analysing every single statistic available, most use it as a quick glance stat..
