Nice full stadium to watch bolt run, oh waito_O

People on twitter are using this as proof that west ham deserve the stadium no doubts the idiots on SSC will follow. Im mean just the other day on SSC someone was saying Abramovich would be happy to pay for the stadium since he had written off the the £700m loan to chelsea

He hasn'to_O and its increased to £900m

More than anything it just reminds me of Napoli's running track stadium (though obviously the OS is nowhere near as nice). Napoli spent years being very mediocre, and I'm sure West Ham will do exactly the same (unless they win the lottery with a new owner).

I think The Dog and Duck(Malta) will be thinking we could have beaten the mighty hammers before they become a world power!

The lengths their going through on SSC to justify the views to the pitch are making me giggle a bit. I don't doubt it isn't an physically impressive stadium, I ran past it today and its so big you just can't not be impressed. The roof is imposing from the outside, let alone from the inside. But its suitability as a football venue I'm not so sure about, ignoring the reports about all the water leaks etc today. It's just very basic in its fit and finish, and I feel that once fans get used to its size and new shiny factor, the fact that the area outside the main bowl is just a modern marquee and roof will start to take its tole.

If you've ever sat in White Hart Lane on a January evening completely frozen, you know that you'll be able to at least get a little warmer by going inside. At the olympic stadium all the gangways etc for the upper tier are all exposed to the elements. Which I think will eventually get long in the tooth. While destroying any attempt it could try at being a real premium venue, other than the few hospitality suites in the west stand.

Friend of mine went to the Olympics and he showed me a picture from behind the flame in the second tier. It's not good at all. The distance from that second tier will be unacceptable to any fan. I can imagine away fans claiming refunds for the bad view if we're punted way to the back of a stand. They're welcome to that place.

I want it to be bad, so very very bad. 2 of my best m8s are Hammers fans. 1 thinks it's going to be incredible and launch them into the big time. The other isn't convinced. It could raise their revenues if it's successful but the lack of any true imagery from WH makes me think the view from the seats is going to be awful. If they can't generate any atmosphere in the place it's going to end up being a terrible place to watch football. Ideally relegation this season would perfect before they move in. I know it's schadenfreude but this is West Ham we are talking about.

It's just a slightly updated (and corrupt) version of The Valley and Stamford Bridge in the old days. Big but utter shit for football or whatever it is that West Ham get up to.

As much as I hate them that photo must be wrong no way its that far, the view to the pitch is way way too far!

An interesting little comparison, this is a section of the Olympic Stadium in 'football mode' overlaid on the old KSS design for our new place (the populous renders we've seen so far show that the new plans remain very similar to this).

Surprising thing for me is that the rake of our lower tier seems more shallow than the OS temporary seats.

That's a really good point, the view is going to be poor. Those executive boxes are going to have a bloody good view though.

I was there for the athletics on Friday night. It was lashing down and the track was absolutely soaked as the roof doesn't seem to protect it. The Spam fans are going to get very wet.

Yes, but the generally the OS seats are fair bit lower and considerably further from the pitch ; not a good combination. (The plans may not be to the same scale, though they look as though they are.) And look at the difference between the higher levels, where the differences become enormous.

Judging by Dan Roan's piece on the BBC website I don't think the documentary is going to be very positive about West Ham's "deal" at all

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33780720

Dan's a good reporter, albeit a Liverpool fan, so hopefully it will be negative. It's bbc London sorry, who are in love with west ham & the OS.

This is farcical now though. The taxpayer even picking up match day expenses.

Boris Johnson should be sacked for agreeing to all of this. It's disgusting.

Have they even released the final bill yet? In some ways WH might have been a bit too greedy getting things like police covered. It's stuff like that that will really piss general public off. No way we should be paying for that stuff. I'd love it to go to a public enquiry.

West Ham United F.C.: Taxpayers to Meet Club's Running Costs at Olympic Stadium, Report Says
A contract between West Ham and the stadium's owner revealed a number of "facilities and services" would be paid for by taxpayers when it moves in August 2016, the BBC reported.
